I enjoyed looking at these portraits very much. They are wonderful!
But they're all of men! Does Benedict Rubbra dislike painting women?

Re: Aqua Manda
I've an idea that there was a mens' Aqua Manda? I could be wrong. Time, if so, for JR to get out those flared jeans, platform shoes and floral shirt with huge floppy collar. To grow down those sideburns, and breathe the good wholesome atmosphere of the smouldering joss stick.

Hooray, The White Company have sent me their new glossy catalogue, which I'm enjoying with my morning coffee. They have two new scents - Day, and Night. Straight away, I remembered that this has been done before! Remember the Mary Quant make up range? How I loved it, even smuggling back a pale pink ...

I should love to hear any details about the ménage of Merce and Chemi-T! They just seemed such a perfect pair! Do transfer over to Hertford Memories, Frances - shouldn't think the boys would enjoy this so much...

Well, Angela, that's because there just aren't that many happy memories for so many of us. Sad, but true.

Of course, Frances! I was forgetting Nellie and Miss Rutherford. Girl Chums, I feel sure. No body language that might hint there was anything more. Although... just think - Nellie would have blown her whistle, sucked on an orange, and planned strategy for the second half... Now I've remem...

Re: When the girls arrived..
but I wonder what effect the disruption in midstream had? Bear in mind that in those days the norm was to study a subject for two years and just have exams at the end, not the bitesize chunks they do nowadays! It wasn't good. I was half way through my O levels when we moved to Horsham. It was diffi...

Re: Christ's Hospital, ecole de excellence anglaise
The late George Melly, who had a classical education at Stowe, said that he spent his schooldays fighting Caesar's Pubic Wars. What do the ladies have to say about this? Has there ever been a thread about Sapphic Tendencies at Hertford? My loved one was educated at Stowe, and had a wonderful time t...

For several years we bred and showed Chinchilla's. ( The cat NOT the rodent ). The Americans call them Shaded Silvers and they are part of the Persian cat family. At most weekends, if not showing I used to help and steward at southern G.C.C.F shows and had a monthly column in 'CATS' magazine. I've ...
