Re: Roger Martin - trial
6. I did, by the way, inform the Common Room at dinner one evening as to the circumstances of my departure. They were naturally very sympathetic; but also very appreciative of being told the true story, because, as they said, they were so rarely told. Newsome made up some spin about how I was leavi...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
To read in black and white that Roger Martin has been convicted of this crime has really made me re-evaluate all my thoughts about CH and staff encounters there. I suggest every OB interested in this matter personally registers and logs into the Court record site www.thelawpages.com , to see with t...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
My recollection is that RM was a well-regarded guy, but probably not a great educator as he always seemed to have the bottom sets. He did have a few habits - the house swimming thing, the cine camera thing - that might have been regarded as merely eccentric by the standards of the day, or at least ...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
Just realised Martin's offending is from Sept-Dec 1976. He started to abuse the pupil within days or at most weeks of him arriving at the school. Chilling.

She is indeed now a DS. Not before time. Are the mods able to change the caption?

Re: Roger Martin - trial
I'm finding this the most difficult conviction of all to deal with. Up until now, those found guilty have ranged from the not especially likeable to the downright creepy. But lots of former Barnes A boys will remember Roger Martin with very great fondness, both as a good housemaster (broadly speaki...

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Wilde
Just a thread to pay tribute to this brilliant Police Officer and her 100% conviction rate on the Christ's Hospital investigations.

Re: Here's a hypothetical
it's worth people making a few good quality copies of this document just in case it should suddenly disappear from the internet for any reason.
If it is him, how surprising that he should suddenly start using his middle name at a ripe old age!

Photograph of Ernest Richard McCall
Does anyone have a photograph of Ernest Richard McCall from his years at CH to upload / scan, or from an old copy of the Blue?
It could be used to compare to the picture here.

Re: Here's a hypothetical
Thank you Peter, so pleased you feel able to report this awful event and to share relevant materials with the Police. They may be able to let you know if McCall is alive or not, I am sure many people on here would be interesting in knowing.
Thank you once again.

Re: Sheila and Peter Higgins - character references for Gary Dobbie
The disgusting female Chaplain that ignored that poor girl is even worse. Is it now established who this is? She was the only teacher/staff member I straight up hated, of all my 3 schools. You know how you remember having certain teachers you really disliked, you thought you "hated" them,...

Re: Michael Porteous
Sort of interesting that at the time the allegation was made he was living in Thailand (not sure if extradited or if he was just arrested on a trip home) In another news article it said he was living in Thailand at the time of his arrest, and was arrested on a family visit to the UK. I suppose it's...

Re: Michael Porteous
The twitter is his....or at least seems to stop when he went to prison in 2014 and start up again roughly when he would have been released. He stopped tweeting in Oct 2017, so wonder if he's back inside for something else, dead or ill (or he lost interest in twitter).

I think this guy needs a thread of his own. I wonder if we have a definitive list of teachers who taught at CH who were convicted of abuse elsewhere? (Ian Rowley) When did Porteous teach at CH? People might want to post details about his time there and any recollections etc Do we know if the convict...
