Re: Jack Mount
Saw this on the BBC website. Worst thing is this guy got away with it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/extra/ztdfudx91d/the-boarding-school-monster-who-always-walked-free Good to see you posting again Stan. I hope all is well with you and yours. It is a sad reflection of the world we live in that this p...

Re: Congratulations To Joe Launchbury
Another solid 65 minutes or so for Joe yesterday. He also, to steal association football terminology, had a siginificant 'assist' in Mako Vunipola's try forcing him over the line. Unlike the other week against Georgia, when Joe did similar for Jack Willis, at least Bryan Habana noticed yesterday. Le...

Re: Congratulations To Joe Launchbury
On a related subject, did anyone see the Women's England vs France game at Twickers? Good skills, pulsating match, thrilling finish - and a mass catfight in the second minute. Unfortunately not. After 40 years my dearly beloved is well used to my interest in sport but Gillingham v Charlton Athletic...

Re: Congratulations To Joe Launchbury
Congratulations to Joe on his 50th cap for England today! 68 good minutes before Eddie removed him too. EDIT: I'm confused because on TV today they congratulated Joe on his 50th cap yet I've read elsewhere that he has 65! Can anyone clarify? Could it be 50 caps against 6 Nations teams they are refer...

Re: Roger Allam in Radio Times
Going back to Roger Allam, as I started this detour(and I agree with all the previous comments and concerns, just don't have a thank button available): The only reason I have ever heard of a number of these famous OBs (Magee etc)is because I was at CH, otherwise Roger would never have been on my ra...

Re: Remembering 50 years ago...
Fifty years ago I was in my second year at CH. It had seemed a fairly normal day - getting up, marching to dining hall, breakfast, classes, and so on. Then in the afternoon my world - and my brother's - was turned upside down when we learnt that our mother had died unexpectedly at home. Our lives w...

Re: Disabilities 50s, 60s
An older boy in Mid A had severe problems with his sight. I believe he was registered as blind later in life.
Other than that described, which I was only aware of really because I happened to be in the same House, I do not recall any other visible disabilities during my time.

Re: Pocket money, Nausea and more
Definitely payment in my day but I don’t recall how much. 15 florins seems a lot, all in one go, but I used to get one florin as a choir boy at weddings before I went to CH, so maybe it wasn’t that much. I was a swab for my second two terms to Launchfield, the Trades Monitor, and the all of my seco...

Re: The Housey Hotspots, etc
Michael “Joe” Froggatt, (Pe B), a direct contemporary of mine as we went to junior school and CH together, formed the Jabberwocks, who played traditional Jazz. Froggatt was on the Euphonium, Noel Abel on trombone (he later went on to become a distinguished bass trombonist with top symphony orchestr...

Re: Morton Peto
^^I agree, I have only vague memories of the Petos, including their daughter and the OB she married, so nothing of interest to post, but I can't imagine there being anything remotely scurrilous to post and I'd hate to think that Avon's or Comenius' posts could be misinterpretd. Sadly, Nick Luxmoore...

Re: Morton Peto
I’m not sure we can discuss this. Even if Peto is de facto and legally dead, I think all sorts of due process probably needs to be concluded before we can start talking about it on an open forum. We should wait until the new Head writes an dull and platitudinous statement about the issue. It is how...

No reasonable person of any colour or creed is going to dispute the ideology.
The conduct of the organisation taking that ideology as its name is open to debate.

Re: What Doesn't Happen At CH These Days?
In my time Sgt Guest used to conduct the 12:15 pm School Drills that took place on the back asphalt between Lamb and the Scout Hut and Manual School approximately. Not that I had many of those  As others have said he ran the Post Office. I think as well as swimming he looked after gymnastics, ...
