Re: Stupid things that people say
When people are told of the impending addition to the family, I'm hearing a lot of "What do you want?" The reply to which is manifold. Apart from the obvious which I can't bring myself to state, separate beds, a quiet life, no stitches, a live-in nanny etc. run a close race. Given the size...

Re: Hope things are a little better today!!
I found this on Google but the link is not working. You might be able to get there another way? Apparently these are parliamentary papers held at the University of Southampton. Christ's Hospital Inquiry Commission report The Commission discussed the tragic suicide of William Gibbs, ... in so far as...

Re: Colostrum!
Can either be colostra, colostrae or colostrum, colostri. I think we want the latter. Meaning beestings ( first milk from a cow after calving ); term of endearment Not just first milk from a cow after calving , Josh! Colostrum is the highly concentrated initial secretion of the breasts of a new mot...

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z108/canteencath/Scan.jpg Much relief all round - there is only one in there. Phew. Things seem to be fine (head on left, body on right, arm and leg visible), all the bits in the right place, much waving (from babe and us!) and wriggling around. It is quite incredi...

Re: School Needlework
The men seem to have been hit very hard by various viruses going round this winter. Several older gents we know have been ruhed into hospital with 'cardiac' problems, treated in some cases for months only to find that it was a virus and their hearts are fine. Hope your hubby will be OK soon, Kathari...

Re: Coleridge House Photos
Re pancake races, ... After I left, the thing got out of hand. It moved to the Quarter Mile, but in 1964 or 65 there was a degree of violence, and people got hurt. That was probably the end of it. After the merger, Coleridge A and B engaged in pancake racing for some years, egged (ahem) on by Mrs E...

Ditto all the apologies for a tardy greeting - I went to Plymouth and was then ill. The two might be related ... Congratulations nonetheless.
