Re: All this is incredibly sad
I wonder how many OB’s have educated their own children privately and how much their CH experience influenced that decision? I loved CH, I loved boarding and thrived at school. Until a few years ago I would happily have allowed my son to go to CH had he wanted to go. Now- absolutely no way. I was t...

Re: staff accommodation
I was the last member of staff to live in a room next to the lower dorm and to have a dayroom study. This was for three years in Maine B from 1981-4. It was unreasonable as it was basically like being on duty 24/7, seven days a week. I also did six and a third sporting activities a week which was t...

Re: staff accommodation
The vast majority of teaching staff live on site these days. King Edward’s Close was built off from King Edward’s Road in the 60s, there are 2 additional houses in West Gun Copse, as well as another 3 around the Infirmary Drive. Lamb A and B have Lego versions of the housemaster houses on the back a...

Re: Roger Martin
It is interesting to read that 2007 thread. E.g. in addition to discussion of McCall's 'spurious circumstances' of departure, there is mention of Burr - here for example a poster hints at the fact that Burr is not a good guy to have around the house: http://www.chforum.info/php/viewtopic.php?f=23&a...

Re: Ernest McCall- Maths teacher / housemaster Maine A
LHA - was that when the houses ‘moved’ so that all the B houses were juniors and A houses were seniors? As far as I know, JDS was only ever housemaster of a junior house

I don’t think it has made a difference if I’m honest from what I’ve heard.CodFlabAndMuck wrote: ↑Sat Aug 25, 2018 9:41 pmBecause of all the bad publicity

Re: Did anyone know?
In those days MaB under Grimshaw was definitely the most regimented jnr house with a morning shoe inspection still - LHB stopped that when morning marching into breakfast stopped Shoe inspection was still going strong when Grimshaw left in 1991/2!! I think shoe inspection was still being done in Ma...

Re: Roger Martin
Scrub - you are confusing two previous members of staff.
Burr certainly was at Welford in 93 with his barge - he was the one who got upset if you called it that.
There was another ex teacher that helped on the Broads called mr Snook - he used to wind Shippen up by overtaking him in his yacht etc!
