Re: It's still tough

Lot's of people seem to say that the school laundry ruins clothes. They had me quite worried about it, as I'm way too far away to be doing regular laundry duties! So far however it has been fine, nothing lost, damaged, shrunk, turned a funny colour or otherwise ruined. I did make sure that my daught...

Re: Speech day

I would have liked to have seen it myself, but sadly, I was waiting for the RAC to arrive after one of my tyres exploded on the motorway! :(

Worry about that if/when it happens, as it may not.

Not finding it difficult

The seperation that is. Don't get me wrong, I love my daughter very much, and we are very close, but she's always so excited to go back to CH. I hear from her several times a day, and I know she is happy. If anything, I'd say that boarding is good for our relationship, all the conflict (homework, be...

Re: BIG ink pen stains on white crested polos!

You may be able to get rid of the very last of the stains by hanging the shirts outside on a sunny day. I've often been amazed by the stain removing power of the sun...

Re: Leave weekends

My DS reports that from September all pupils will be allowed to go home on any weekend after Saturday lessons; he's rather taken with the idea of spending every Sunday at home with long lie-ins, no chapel and mum's home cooking! (Of course, he doesn't seem to have considered the additional cost of ...

Re: How much

Volupturaptor, that doesn't seem too much - that is the essentials and pretty what my DS takes. I wonder what they expect her to leave behind! Perhaps it is more a matter of tidiness than too much stuff :) I think that's it exactly, tidiness, or rather lack of it. She's actually so bad that she's b...

Re: How much

What is all this 'stuff'? I must admit I do look at other people's luggage when they go back to school and wonder what on earth it all is? I can't imagine what 'stuff' they need that would take up all this space. Duvet 2 pillows Blanket 2 duvet covers 4 pillow cases 2 fitted sheets 4 bath towels A ...

Re: How much

Her house mistress told me she has too much stuff. She went with a big suitcase for all her clothes and personal items, a large holdall for all her bedding and towels, a small holdall for her shoes, and a carrier bag full of tuck. My daughter is extrememly untidy, and I do believe that even if she t...

Re: How much

Stuff, yes, most definitely far too much of it. Yet I was so stern about it at the beginning of term... Next term, must try harder! Oh dear, I've just been told once again, that she has too much stuff. Don't they all? I mean, I did try to be strict about how much she took back ...

Re: New Entrants'Day

The thing is, if the DIY mouthguards are so bad, why are they being sold a) at all? b) at the school itself?
Tis madness...
I can only come to the conclusion that they may not be as good, but must be ok really!

Re: New Entrants'Day

You'll find most supermarkets sell packs of plain white polo shirts, plus plain navy shorts and tracksuits. I did find myself needing a sports shop for the long navy socks and shin pads.

Re: New Entrants'Day

On the subject of mouthguards... We were told in no uncertain terms that they had to have one from the dentist (our own or the school one) and that the ones you can buy are no good whatsoever and not acceptable. Needless to say, we had one made. My daughter however tells me you can buy the DIY ones ...
