Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS

LHA is not wrong in his last comment. The point is that the transformation of the ring fence into a "ring of steel" is symptomatic of the wider safeguarding revolution that will have taken place at CH, as at all schools. I'll give some examples from my current school which will hopefully ...

Re: James Andrew Husband, Pickering Town Council

Looks like just a holding statement while they sort out the formalities. They have an extra-ordinary meeting of the staffing committee set up for next Friday at 6pm followed straight after by an extra-ordinary meeting of the full council. Both to discuss a 'staffing matter' http://www.pickering.gov....

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS

Thing the thing that got me most is that when a girl of 15, having been raped by one of her teachers, summoned up the courage to talk to the chaplain - and can you imagine how emotionally difficult that must have been? - he responded by sniggering at her and then assaulting her for himself. And alon...

Re: Should the forum be behind a registration wall?

I'd like answers to each of those questions. And like you I slept for 3 years in a boarding house where Webb has confessed to prowling the dormitories.

Can I suggest compiling a list of questions and making a joint approach to the school for answers?

Re: how to appeal an Unduly Lenient Crown Court Sentence

I was in the house Webb was in from 1971-74. I don't think he interfered with me, but now I know his MO I really don't know. Thousands of others are in the same position. I guess I’m in a similar position. I was in the house where he was a junior housemaster between 1967 and 1970. Although that is ...

Re: PRIVATE EYE

Interesting letter in latest issue of Private Eye (4 April 2014; p15). There has been some discussion in the rag about the tax affairs of the John Laing Construction Co. The letter-writer, one David Briggs, is upset by the criticism of a company renowned for its charitable activities and goes on to...

Re: Politics at CH

I vividly remember Newsome warning us all in a Big School assembly one morning in about 1973 that our school's very existence was being threatened by a dangerous left wing labour radical called Roy Hattersley. This was at the time when the law was being changed to allow 18 year olds to vote for the ...

Re: Confirmation Service

I'm fairly sure the 1970 Confirmation service was conducted by the Bishop of Chichester. But I do confidently remember, amongst other useless trivia, that it was on Saturday 7th March.

Hello Stan, and thanks for the welcome.

And if you say that's you, I believe you! But I wouldn't have worked it out.

Mine too is bound in hard black leather and matches Katherine's description. I've always been puzzled about why we were given the Revised Version which was produced at the end of the 19th century as a revision of the 1611 Authorized (or King James) version. It never really caught on and most churche...

http://chforum.info/pictures/LeighHuntA6869.jpg Continuing the theme of house photos I dug up my old one from late 1968 0r early 1969. I can't remember why but I managed to get practically everybody to sign their names on the back of the picture including the staff. To my embarassment there are som...
