Re: Vikki Askew

I’m guessing golfer is just trying to contain himself given the insensitive prick who made a snidey comment about his wife and the public education system. A lady who he clearly adored and has now sadly passed.

CH fundraising - a bit of a rant

Writing this will make me feel like a grumpy old ******, so apologies if that’s how it reads. In the last few years there has been a lot of information from CH about pupils fundraising for various global charities. I am sure it is all part of being compassionate and worldly, and good for the pupils ...

Re: The Old Blue 2018

I am delighted that CH has managed to foster a culture where it is possible to celebrate a particular group, whether it be ethnic, religious, LGBT(..and some others), without anyone in the immediate environment finding it offensive, racist, condascending.

Re: Vegetarians

Day 1, 1988, a fellow secondformer says to the master on duty in dining hall "Sir, I'm Vegetarian"

master replies "OK, well, don't eat the meat"

I think it gradually improved from then on

Re: Explanation of the 'Tube'

We had some crazy nights in that Sharpenhurst chamber. Candles, music, singing, drinking, smoking.....

We probably also used some incorrect grammar, but I’ll save those tales!

The Thorne A Riot, legendary stuff. Presume Cairncross only visited because she lived across the road and it disturbed her?

Thorne A went on to great things after that, the Thorne A Heritage anyone?

Re: All this is incredibly sad

What damage can be done by this speculation? It’s perfectly understandable that pupils with parents as teachers TYPICALLY had a level of protection from the worst of what occurred at CH. And I don’t think it’s unreasonable, if I were that teacher I couldn’t stand by and tolerate a child of mine bein...

Re: Community Service/Action Romania Recollections

I totally agree. But I also remember being delighted that MJP had let his hair down, he completely deserved it. And if it was a case of mis-diagnosis, and he did in fact have a bug that he'd treated with a pungent local remedy, and which cleared up after a quiet morning, then I hope wherever he is h...

Re: Community Service/Action Romania Recollections

Definitely not! And I must point out that it wasn't quite as debaucherous as my post suggests, we did a lot of great work, we learnt masses about working in communities and the local culture. I distinctly remember us learning that some of the British people we met there were not doing anything nearl...

Re: Community Service/Action Romania Recollections

My trip to Romania was incredible, it played a large part in shaping my career choices and taught me a great deal about life in general. I’ll never forget the raw pigs fat on bread for breakfast, nor the time the family I stayed with cooked chips and then poured the cooking oil all over my serving a...

To me this suggests that the authorities referenced are the Senior Management team, rather than the police. I guess that is how the chain of reporting should have worked in any organisation, and harry's not obliged to comment on their actions or in-actions if they aren't prepared to speak for themse...

Re: Dobbie's departure

Couldn’t the school report a crime and let the police determine the next steps? They called in the police to look for drugs a few times while I was there.
