There were twins with the surname Sandys. Something odd happened and they disappeared. There were strange rumours..... Maybe one of them will answer and tell all... Yeah, the Sandys twins were ritually sacrificed on a remote Scottish island and then burned inside giant wicker figures. There were al...

French towns and villages used to have 'pissoirs' everywhere - no messing about with silly names there. Um....Actually pissoir is a British-invented word, coined to describe the dodgy free-standing cast-iron khasis which les Francaises adore. French people don't have a clue what the word means. Or ...

Ah, Edinburgh in the late 70s/early 80s. I guess this means you must have seen the Exploited play live (and got your head kicked off by senseless skin'ead boneheads into the bargain.Richard Ruck wrote:My best gig-going period was during my first two years at Edinburgh University ('79 - 81).
If not, why not?

The Damned - never got to see them. I saw the Damned. Jolly good fun it was too. Total chaos - the front five rows of the audience was a massive skinhead punch-up and the band walked off in disgust three times. Then Rat Scabies came back on and whacked a skin over the head with a mike stand (sound ...

Crikey Spoonbill that's a corker of a shot of you! Were you as pretty as that when at school? Mate, I was as thin as a reed (and my facial features were distinguishable, too). It's all as disturbing for me as it is for you. Peele B housemaster Tom Keeley once told me that when he was a teenager, he...

Would Your Schoolmates Still Recognise You?
I was very struck by Dick Ruck's comments on the Who Else Has Never Been Back to CH? thread, regarding his recent Horsham sighting of the deservedly famous Alan Baber (who, with the equally celebrated Steve Blohm, earned LHA its enduring 1970s image). Dick said how strange it was to see someone one ...

Umm....Actually, I look a bit like that bloke in the photo these days, I'm embarrassed to say. Too many kebabs, possibly (or perhaps not enough). And to think I was an ultra-skinny Jack Frostlike teenager at CH.....Nobody would have guessed I'd grow up to be a giant barrage balloon with hair on top....

Dave, I'm guessing I'm not on your list because I've never subscribed to The Blue , never been a member of the Club, never been back to CH, etc., etc. In short, I've long disappeared from the school's ken (and hardly surprisingly was never notified of the existence of Who's Blue? ). That's pretty mu...

Many thanks, Uncle Dave. Not sure whether to shudder at the thought of the primitive khasis or to regret that I missed them. (Speaking as someone who was appalled to learn of the demolition of the renowned Car Park/Art School Bogs, I suppose I should be in tears really.) The Revd. John Robson told m...
