Re: Brexit
We also have both UK and EU passports. The best thing is to show your EU passport when leaving/entering the EU/Schengen, and show your UK passport when entering the UK. If you live in the EU and you want to use your UK passport to travel in/out of the EU, you should also produce your residence perm...

Re: REAR-ADMIRAL TOM BRADBURY, CB, OLD BLUE
In terms of that newspaper's paywall. It is a nuisance, but it has a right to set up its website as it sees fit, there is no such thing as a free lunch. However, I have found that if you view the newspaper on an iPhone, it is possible to download as a file a story (e.g. an obituary or a news item) ...

Re: Just a coincidence?
I have come to the conclusion that as there are a relatively few number of people who move around the world, (I have been abroad since 1973), it is not surprising in that we have many acquaintances in common. I think this is true. We knew someone working for FAO, when we were in West Africa, he was...

Re: CH role in Coronation
That was the reference to CH which I saw. The link seems to have changed, as I checked it when I posted. The DT queried whether children would be strong enough to hold it. That depends on choosing the right children!

Re: CH role in Coronation
I’ve seen that picture too, David.
I would have thought that members of the First XV would be strong enough to hold the canopy! Might be more of a struggle for some of the girls though!

CH role in Coronation
On the front page of today’s Daily Telegraph there is mention of a possibility of CH students having a role in the Coronation, holding the canopy while the King is anointed. Would this be a first? I saw it here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-the-papers-64461353 I think the paper is behind a paywall.

Re: Angela Tennick 1s and 3s 1958 -1965
There’s nothing of interest about Hertford here. Just boys’ abuse, not our story. As for DR she should never have been let loose on the teaching profession. A martinet with no life experience. There are a few Hertford memories on facebook. Some years ago there were many more Hertford posters, and w...

How many of you were there? I can remember the Clarke twins, I did my DofE expeditions with them, some people thought we were triplets! I also remember you and Carol but can’t think of an Angela, shame on me!

Was Tennick her maiden name? I’m having trouble placing her.

Re: teaching relevance in later life
I don’t remember anything in the way of careers advice at Hertford, whether that was because I was deemed to be a dead cert for university I don’t know. I don’t remember any discussion about it at all - not even the grotty filing cabinet of leaflets tucked into an out of the corner of the new scienc...

Re: teaching relevance in later life
Having done double Maths & Physics at A level, then a degree in Maths, I taught Maths and Physics for years, so yes what I learnt at school did help in later life!

post by loringa » Mon Oct 03, 2022 10:20 pm David - I think you are probably referring to this: viewtopic.php?t=731 which originated with a post from eloisec back in 2005 which I think could be read as cri de coeur. I suspect she moved on to better things - I hope so! Top Yes!!!! That is exactly wh...

Re: Horsham Pass - Downs Link path
Still it sounds as if we had it good compared with the Ch lasses in Hertford. At least we had the countryside on our doorstep, no ring fence to the south so occasional forays out in that direction were permissable. You certainly did have it much better than us! I too did brass-rubbing for my DofE, ...
