Re: CH Scouts
I did have a look at the FB page, but didn't really fancy reading the 124 comments! It looks like a letter will come our way soon, explaining all, so shall await that. My husband is a Beaver Scouts leader and there is a huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes: planning, training, paperwor...

Annual Christmas Fete
Hello everyone. I was just wondering whether the Annual Christmas Fete is open to not just families of pupils, but also to friends? We live reasonably close to CH and I thought it would be a good way for some our friends to see our ds's school and to spend some money towards Save the Children at the...

Re: New book - murder mystery set at CH!
My ds is in a book club too and I believe they had their meeting earlier today to discuss the book. It sounds great, I ll have to read it myself. What an achievement to the boy who wrote it!

Re: Initial Assessment
Yes and like you said, it's not just for the school to see whether the child is right but it's also for the child to see whether this is what they really want to do.This is what we told our ds, and I believe it helped to take away the nerves. I do remember vividly driving away after I dropped him of...

Re: Initial Assessment
It came today! Just found it! A big fat envelope full of stuff! As soon as I saw it my hopes were raised as I guessed they would only send a thin one to turn you down! So now we have to find the money to come in January! But who cares! So not so discriminating after all! Fabulous news, good luck fo...

Re: Initial Assessment
ONLY 80 or so got through? I thought there were 112 places? Ok, 112, sorry, do not know the exact figures. What I was trying to say is when a huge amount of prospective pupils apply for a smallish amount of places, then one must surely realise that it's a chance you are given, not a right and that ...

Re: Initial Assessment
It is late indeed and I can understand your frustrations, but I feel I want to stand up for CH a bit as to us it's still an amazing place, offering our ds an education that we would not be able to afford at any other private school. Times are changing and challenging and in order to survive, the sch...

Re: Initial Assessment
I so agree with CHdad about questioning our decisions on a regular basis! A couple of times I have been very close to driving to CH to pick my DS up and take him home!! Maybe your children could try for the 13plus? We always felt the first of exams were the trickiest as in our opinion it was purely ...

Re: birthdays
It must be very hard not to be with your child on his / her birthday, I can so imagine it (I think my ds is just in Easter half term so am ok this year), but I am sure you ll have a special day when he comes home next time! Our ds was quite upset to miss his brother's birthday, so we ve planned to d...
