Good job once again John! My only observation is that there no longer appears to be a letters page. Maybe nobody has written to you though! Probably from France ! (titters into coffee cup !) Seems to be some sort of insult - I'm lost. Incidentally, nice bit about police with criminal records for as...

I use Firefox and connect by broadband.

When the recent update was installed it cut out my password for broadband. 12 hours later the password suddenly corrected itself and I could connect.

I use the ordinary Google icons, not accellerator (whatever that is)

Not sure if it was here or in another group I subscribe to a few weeks ago. Car crash due to a rabbit surprising one of the drivers involved. The claims settler in India (on behalf of a certain company in the east of England) is demanding to know the address and insurance details of the rabbit. I ki...

I've just seen on the CHA website that we will have to pre-register to go to Old Blues Day - I think this will prohibit a number of YOB's from coming as often they will not know until the ast minute. Also, does anyone know if there will be a Scout Camp in Shelley Wood like there has been in the pas...

Isn't it wonderful that David is such a BRILLIANT typist?! I had to read his message two or three times to get the gist of it. Don't worry Gemma... we are all totally mad. And you are soon to become one of us! Hang in there, leave your 'friend' behind, and aim to become a fully signed up member of ...

- we obviously overlapped though you were (and are!) younger than I. I too remember Monty's inspection (and the day off!) in 1953. I am desperately trying to remember whether I was actually in the corps - and therefore inspected. I was fifteen at the time of the inspection, so I guess I must have b...

What's the deal with the belts?, something about different types or placements for different year groups?. I'm totaly at a loss here. ... girdles, dear, girdles. Never, ever belts. Because of your seniority, you will wear a "broadie" girdle with a solid silver buckle. DBTS - don't talk ab...

And here's the picture of the little boys' band at Hertford...... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190064851021 I note the titla at the bottom but wonder: a) boys at Hertford as late as about 1920? b) they seem to be wearing boots: in a print of 1816 it is clear that the boy...

Re: Beechholme: The Model for CH Horsham?

but he lent me a booklet about it and I was staggered to learn how similar to CH Horsham it was. I'm guessing its general layout may have inspired certain aspects of CH; personally I'd never thought beyond Aston Webb & Ingress Bell's architecture - but who actually thought up the layout of the ...

Interesting the reference to Montgomery's inspection in 1944. When I was in the CCF it was he who carried out the General's Inspection one year. We were warned in advance that he had a habit of saying "Gather round, chaps" before a speech; our orders were to "misunderstand" and g...
