Re: What is the impact of a CH education?
The survey seemed to be a crass mechanism to identify where to focus their fundraising efforts; “What is your income and are you likely to part with it?”

Re: Roger Martin - trial
For all reading this thread, please bear in mind that the details of the trial are being relayed to you by someone who was not present, but has had information relayed to him by a person who was. I also have had information relayed to me by someone present at the trial, and it does not correlate wi...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
He wasn't convicted of filming boys. That was relevant to show that Martin had an inappropriate interest in boys. He was convicted of putting the pupil in his [Martin's] own bed and then touching his penis. The boy was 10 and very homesick. That was demonstrably inappropriate, even in 1976. I reali...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
One needs to be very careful about impugning the verdict in Martin's trial. He was unanimously convicted by the jury. All I've garnered is that he encouraged skinny-dipping, that there was bum-sliding in the lav ends, and that he naively thought it OK to film naked boys cavorting around. I liked th...

Re: Sheila and Peter Higgins - character references for Gary Dobbie
So.my word as a former pupil and a teacher for 27 years at CH following a headship is worth nothing to you? What is this concrete evidence you are seeking? See my previous post for examples of possible concrete evidence. The fact that Dobbie et al got away with so much for so many years, without be...

Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing
I bet there’s a fair few teachers who would really love (and probably benefit from) unloading some home truths about what went on and the behaviour of the SMT at the time. As awful as this whole episode is, I think about how many great people there were at CH, who went above and beyond their positio...

Re: Sheila and Peter Higgins - character references for Gary Dobbie
I know it’s a bit too late but I’ve drafted a letter which anyone is free to use in response to reference requests. (Sometimes it’s hard to find the right words to say no) ———————————- Dear Gary, Thank you for your letters, it’s good to hear that you’ve met so many like-minded people. I did laugh wh...

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
That’s exactly right as per what I heard. GWD claimed that he was only implicated by association and the reference would help defend a terrible injustice. However we called bullshit and no reference was given. This was due to being able to piece together some insights from across a number of years.

I’ve not posted anything as specific previously due to the trial. All I can say is that one of the people GWD asked for a reference told me.

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
These cases together demonstrate the harsh environment which CH was in that era. You couldn’t turn to the senior management team as they were there to protect the school’s name (!) and you couldn’t turn to the chaplains. That left the house teachers, so it was pot luck whether they were good (as man...

Daily Mail quickest to publish: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6950745/Gary-Dobbie-chaplain-Christs-Hospital-School-Horsham-court-child-sex-abuse.html Site tradition demands that someone objects to the Daily Hate’s quoting of full fees (or an approximation). The simple fact is that the me...
