Re: Mass nudity

Sorry if it's boring to revive an old thread. I must be getting a touch of the selective memories, as I have no recollection of not using a swimming costume whilst learning to swim. I remember classes taking place at midday and having to do five lengths and dive in, the small pool had water in it th...

I never finished a plate of CH porridge. Is that ordinary? (On my first morning, I ordered porridge, seeing I'd always had it at home. This was one of the culture shocks of my first few days. From then on I had (like most people) "milk and sugar only". About 6 years later I thought to myse...

When I said that most of my records were of medieval and Renaissance music, my interlocutor replied: "But I didn't think they could make records then." And on a door to a certain area of our house, my wife put up a notice saying "Cat-free Zone". A friend of my daughter's asked: &...

This is a really good pic of the Dining Hall.

It should have Lord Simon on it somewhere, he was a junior in Mid A at the time (4th table along), and if it was the Michaelmas Term 53, test cricketer John Snow will be somewhere at the bottom of the Thorn B table (5th table along).

can also add that I have never watched Big Brother, 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' etc. I have never played poker ... I have never gone skiing (or skinny dipping) I think I may be a sad case!!! I've never been skiing either, come to think of it. I must admit I watched some "Big Brother&q...

It hadn't occurred to me that taking illegal substances was an ordinary everyday action -- I haven't done that either. (Though I did once sniff an indelible felt-tip pen -- bliss!!)

Nor have I seen the Star Wars films, and I'm old enough to have done so in the original, so to speak.

What very ordinary things have you never done?

What very everyday things have people (for whatever reason) never done? To start the ball rolling, I must confess to never having:

smoked a whole cigarette (of whatever substance);
worn a pair of jeans;
sent (or received) a text message.

Which bits do your women shave, apart from their face and neck?

(I only ask because I never yet lived with a woman who owned a razor.)

There's a game called "How many handshakes..." link you to this or that famous person. Having shaken the hand of Sir Bernard Waley-Cohen on St Matthew's Day 1961 (and presumably his successor in 1962, can't remember his name), I am linked very quickly to almost everyone (Stalin in 4, for e...

The various entries above to Sir Norman Wisdom make him appear dead. As of today's date, at least, he's still alive.

We had a boy in our house (Terence Lidington -- are you out there?) who did a passable Norman Wisdom impersonation.

For the sake of cross-referencing, there are some interesting doggy entries (re: Cuckoo and Rambo) on the "Mr Grimshaw" thread (way after my time).
