A tubigrip and a paracetamol did seem to be the answer for everything. The matron/sister-type person at Hertford used to save time during our weighing and measuring sessions by putting 2 or 3 of us on the scales at the same time and dividing the total weight by the number of girls on said scales. Th...

Never came across him.

And why the moniker 'Rocker' for Mr Rae? Was he a bit of one, quiff and beetlecrushers in his youth? JED seems to have discovered the elixir for eternal youth. Or parsing Latin verbs puts the ageing process into reverse.

haha very true. Good to see Mr Hailey there too. He hadn't changed either. Who's he? It was a very surreal experience. Lots of faces that looked familiar, but I couldn't put a name to most of them. Having kids shrinks your brain, which is bad news if, like me, it was small to begin with. Can't reme...

Wing Commander Rae and Mr Lorimer were both at David Elliott's funeral last Friday. How come none of the staff look a day older than when I last saw them 16 years ago?

I did CCF for 2 or 3 years and now remember very little about it, other than Damien Scanlan shrieking at us all like a harpie and Wing Commander Rae urging us to wash our feet with soap (rather than just water) after the x mile long hike so our feet didn't go soft. I seem to remember that my tent ma...

Unless the other one, and the arm to which it was attached, was accidentally shot off on the rifle range. Maybe it'll come up for auction at a hugely inflated price, because as anyone who watches Bargain Hunt will know, you get more for a pair ...

What a bizarre thing to a) keep after time at CH and b) want to buy if you have no connection with the place. Or indeed if you do. Surely a broadie buckle would be worth more?

The Dance/Show Band were just great and one of my highlights of the musical calendar (always nagged my parents to get us tickets to see them). Am I right in thinking that Charlie Hazlewood (him off the telly) played keyboards at some time? Wouldn't it be good to see them again at a DGE Memorial Conc...

For many, being in the band was something to aspire to, much to the disappointment of Peter Allwood and recruitment drives for the orchestra. And that was down to David and his high standards. We all felt like we were part of something special and worthwhile. I shall desperately miss David and his w...
