I'd like to see it again! I can't remember when it was filmed. Would presume it would have been during term time as the dining hall was full in the advert but I don't recall it being done then. I think one of the girls in my house & year was in it but her father taught at CH so she would have b...

I remember trying to explain to people in my post-CH life what the theatre was like and how professionally it was run - shows weren't a case of pulling back the curtain on a dais in the school hall. It has the most unusual smell too. On a revisit to school with the hubby and kids, going in there kn...

the theatre was very important as part of my eductation in all kinds of ways. What a fabulous luxury for a school to have! Have to agree, after Uni I got a job woking in a theatre using my experince at school while I tried to get funding for a phd. 13 or so years later I still haven't done the phd ...

Do a search on the forum for Sidonia - Vonny and I were discussing her on a different thread (may have been school chaplains?). She may be/have been involved in the film industry. Thanks Cath, see on that thread you were looking for a photo, no new ones but there's one of her in Mid B here http://w...

Sidonia, she was 'in' Mid B the year before the Hertford girls arrived. Her and was it Tanya Sillet (?) joined the school and were linked to boys houses, no idea why but she was very nice and friendly as you'd expect from the Porteous Family. Anyone know where they are now? Last I heard was they wer...

Was it not something to do with "The Mary Whitehouse Experience" on TV, in which David Baddiel and Rob Newman would appear as crusty academics having a debate which would always descend into childish name-calling ("that's your mum, that is!").....? This show started in around 19...

Fairly sure this started during my early years at CH. It did I think start from the comic traditon of insulting someones mother as qwerty says and got cut down to your mum then the 'on toast' was added for no apparent reason. I've not heard it say by anyone other than ch people or people associated ...

When i started in 1982 I think the towers were already out of action, we talked until 1989 about getting them working again, we did re-install one into the theatre as a fixed feature but not the last couple of sections, I didn't realise they got back in use. WOuld have been nice to see it.

Last gig behind the theatre, Summer 1984 (I think!). I remember it well wasn't there a band called Technicolour Yawn too around that time. Our guitarist, Paul Scanlan went on to rock god success with the band Creaming Jesus and others. They were pretty good, actually! I miss the days of hearing abo...

In my last year - 1989 - we removed a large number of beds from dormitories and set up a dorm in the quad. We did something to celebrate the fact that we in Mid A had been the last intake to Barnes B, it invovled sheets, paint and climbing scaffodling but it got taken down by one of the estate worke...

Re: Magnus Magnusson

Just heard that Magnus Magnusson has died. Does anyone remember when they filmed Mastermind at CH (Horsham)? Must have been 1986/87. Remember it well as I worked on it. turned out the reason they came to CH was a strike by BBC technicians meant they couldn't go to another venue. I and other pupils ...
