I unequivicably got something out of CH... Namely an interest in art and music... I also took with me an irrational fear of going to sleep in case some idiot smacked me about with soap in a sock. or decided to put me in a cupboard and throw it down the fire escape. (This never happened to me, but it...

Yep, no worse than any other school, except that there was nowhere to go to escape from it, don't forget....

At least at a state school you could go home.

Yeah it's all character building I suppose..

Having said that I am very disappointed to hear that bullying was still very bad at the school in the 90's.

I suppose that has all changed now, what with government legislation recently, etc.

Still.. I did have some good moments.. ;)

Tom Keeley was the best for that.. I deliberately got into the bottom set in Latin so I could get him.. He either fell asleep or read from Lord of the Rings... top chap I seem to remember geog with Gunning to be pretty cool.. Half the lesson spend shooting the breeze about anything we liked and then...

Same in Maine A... Ali Muir cleverly rigged up the entire changing rooms and loos for sound so we could all listen to his appalling punk and goth music whilst showering/changing or taking a sh1t..

Not a bad school. But bullying was rife in my day so I had a **** sh1t time there. If any of you who bullied me or some of my friends are on this forum, well, can I just say you should hang your heads in shame. You know who you are. I hope you have grown out of it. If not I pity your wives/husbands/...

Daddy long legs plague

over a couple of summers the school got completely infested by Daddy Longlegs. There are probably still squashed ones all over the quad, as we used to go around exterminating them by flicking them with elastic bands.!

Bring Back Baker - BBB campaign

When Baker left as headmaster, I remember the school being covered in BBB graffiti

We never managed to bring him back.. Which was sad.

Oh well, we tried I guess..

Aaah ol' "keyhole" Kemp!

Thats a real shame... I was in Maine B and he used to hide outside the Dorm door to catch us talking!

A generally nice, softly mannered chap who most people liked.

Saddening news. :(
