Re: 2014 Admissions

Congratulations to all who got through the first stage (even though another anxious wait now lies ahead!). But for those who didn't make it, I hope that Juicymum's experience is reassuring. I recently bumped into an ex-colleague of mine whose DD was offered a place at CH a few years back - only for ...

Re: Nervous about the road ahead ....

Am gutted have just been advised by the school the west gift discount no longer applies A quick Google search on 'West's gift' brings up the following information posted in April this year http://www.west-group.org/html/christhospital.html Presumably the endowment income is still used to support pu...

Re: Nervous about the road ahead ....

This flags up once again the need for clearer and more detailed financial information to be made available to prospective (and current!) parents.

Good luck with everything Surreymum!

Re: Barking In Essex

It was such a huge area; someone once told me that it was one of the largest buildings in the country unsupported by pillars. When built in the 1950s, I believe that the bus garage in Chichester took this record! It's certainly a vast structure, still standing though I think its days are numbered...

Parents' forum on CH website

Has anyone kept up-to-date with the ‘official’ parents' forum on the school website? I was browsing the site in an idle moment at lunchtime and tried to log in using the generic username and what I think was the last password provided to parents – have we been sent a new one for this year? Or are we...

Re: Deputy Head

Which paper?

I'd heard this news from DS - I wasn't aware that Nigella and Dominic had a less famous sibling, but it's interesting to hear that his career move to CH has made the national press!

IB Congratulations

I just wanted to offer congratulations to the CH students (and staff!) who were brave enough to be guinea pigs for the IB, and have managed to achieve some very impressive results!

Re: 3rd form GCSE options

I was under the impression that cgse's at CH are taught over 2 years, not 3. Even though the gcse's are chosen 3 years ahead of the exams, they don't start the gcse syllabuses themselves until UF. Really? I didn't know that (obviously I don't pay enough attention!). That will certainly make it easi...

Re: 3rd form GCSE options

Following on from recent comment on this thread about when choices are made, I've been interested in today's announcement of details for the new 'GSCE (England)'. According to the proposed timetable: The changes are scheduled to be introduced for the start of the 2015 school year in the eight core s...

Re: THE FUTURE OF CH

Can someone provide some useful facts? e.g. What is/was the upper limit on parental income allowing a child to attend CH? Will this limit be raised (if so to what?) or removed totally? When are the proposed changes to take place? What percentage of the future CH will consist of the wealthy? These m...

This is encouraging news - but can I ask how? And what has been the response, if any, from the school?

Re: Whole school photo - how often

House photos are being taken on Tuesday Is this a new thing Mrs C, and will the whole House be photographed? I don't remember that we've been offered any opportunity to buy a House photo since the group shot of new entrants (taken at the same time as the individual photos in the first term of their...
