I think you can buy them in sports shops also. Our local one sold them in the club colours.
By the way - probably should be on the jokes thread. Male cricketers have been wearing boxes since 1874, and only been wearing helmets since 1974!

Re: ASSOCIATED COSTS
You may have noticed I have not commented much on here recently and it because of the some of these antediluvian comments which are not good for my blood pressure. I feel I must apologise for the comments of my generation above. Lets all go back to the original CH in the sixteenth century where they...

Re: Should I change my browser?
The two men in my office (computer useless the pair of them) both use IE (and don't even know what it means) while Gabrielle and I use Firefox and Chrome. I also use Chrome at home.

Re: Books studied in English
I wasn't confused as my home town of Rye, which comes from the old English 'rie' meaning a hill is built on a hill and does have a wall. So it took me even longer to work it out.

Re: Interesting or funny links
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14346271 This is a joke. At least once a month we receive mail for No 66 or they receive mail for us (no 68) not just handwritten but printed. One day I received 4 pieces of mail for next door - when I checked the post office box of the return address is was a debt...

RIP Deirdre Pallister
I have heard from Mrs C that Deirdre Overend (Pallister) very sadly died of cancer on 17th July. She was junior to me in 2's 69 to 76 http://www.chassociation.org/events/reviews/hertfordreunion2006.php She left Hertford to become a Dr and married Mike Overend. Together they were staff at Horsham Mik...

Re: Books studied in English
I think the Barbara Cartland books were courtesy of Amanda McIlwain. I got through 2 a day after A Levels and I don't think I have read one since. I have read a few Mills & Boon, usually on nights as a midwife as they were favourite reading of pregnant women and new Mums. The only time I have re...

Re: Books studied in English
I think Anya Seton is mentioned elsewhere on here, I can still remember Katherine's 'hig wide brow' apparently not at all the thing in 1300 and whatever. I was in the same class as you guys and I don't remember any Shakespeare Henrys at all. I would say that I was asleep but that was physics, so sur...

Re: MP3 players - advice needed please!
Just don't get me (or husband) started on cyclists. I drove into London yesterday evening to pick up my daughter from walk (as I do fairly frequently, and going down the Holloway Road at 9.45 pm (so half an hour after sunset) and I counted 5 cyclists without lights - those were just the ones I saw. ...

Thanks Alex, I wondered where I had been introduced to Dennis Wheatley. I don't remember "Catcher in the Rye" or "To Kill a Mockingbird" - no wonder I only just scraped English Lit O Level. I have rad them since when my daughter had them fro GCSE. But who could forget 'Lord of th...
