Re: A letter from the CHOBA board
https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/pensioner-jailed-for-historic-sex-abuse-of-boy-at-west-london-prep-school-9779975.html I think this is the same guy who was a chaplain at CH in early 80s. As J.R rightly says, the plot thickens... He had a son called Charles and a diaghter, Sidonia... When did h...

Mark Deller RN had a distinguished career in the Navy afte rleaving in 1981 and is elder brother of Paul, current Head of Art. On a sadder note a contemporary of mine, Ian "Bokker"Halden died in training along with his copilot in a crash in the Falklands; he was only in late 20s but I reca...

Was Jason Flemyng, the actor, expelled? I seem to recall also that he was involved in a shop lifting episode when he was in Mid A?

Re: newspaper article re Peter Webb's departure from CH
This press article happened during my tenure as Senior Grecian in 1984. I think more Lent Term 1984. The headline was indeed "Goodbye Mr Chips" and I am pretty sure it was the SUN newspaper. I recall Baker desperately pressing me to find out who had leaked the story but not really my cup o...

I noticed that the fate of three Yemeni gentlemen was also posted on the same day in the Mail a few pices below Karim's report. Different approach and homicide also involved, but in some countries rape carries much harsher penalties http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6042533/Three-paedophiles-s...

Re: Bishop Peter Ball and Christ's Hospital
Ball did my confirmation in 1981 if I recall correctly. At that time the 3 Chaplains were Robson, Atkinson and Godfrey Hall. Robson went off to Wellington to join Newsome and Atkinson and Hall were then joined by Porteous.

There was a mass school vaccination for BCG in the early 80s but during my time can't recall any flu jabs being administered!

Re: Did monitors have any real use?
 Richard! Actually looking back on it, I am sure the role affected my A level results as I bombed German. Globally it was a PR role and there were fun parts like going to Amicable Socitey of Old Blues dinner; having numerous dinners at "the House" with VIPS who came to the school; sin...

Re: Did monitors have any real use?
Interesting new topic. During my time (1978-1984) the Junior House monitors supervised prep mainly and reported you or "sent you down" if you talked after lights out! In the Senior House the role was more important and incorporated getting both dorms up after the rising bell, leading the h...
