Re: Any Senior Grecians or School Monitors out there

Very strange set up, Great Plum, proposing one's self to be a school monitor. Were these people non House captains who were automatically SM in my time. The SM were made up of all House captains and then a SG and if there were other people who could have been a HC bitz just missed out, these were gi...

Re: Dwain Chambers....

Living out of UK, don't get to see all the news on British Athletics. Still I agree that Chambers may have had a shout at something in Beijing as when I saw him in the past he was a uselful number...perhaps not as good as Lunchbox Christie, but then again that guy was blessed with a lot!!!

Re: Just a glimpse...

Poor Mrs. A: For the sniffles a good Beechams powder sshoudl do the trick but I suspect in Thaikand, that's not a common item to come by unless Watsons or Boots have it.

Interesting cultural point on the bad dream story....has the food gone now? Buddha or the local dog/cat/rat/snake etc!

Re: Dwain Chambers....

Modern day sport is riddled with doping. Just look at what's happening in the Tour de France. The Spanish guys have withdrawn and once again the Tour is veiled in controversy. Last year's winner was found positive months after too... I guess that if everyone had access to illicit substances, everyon...

Re: Any Senior Grecians or School Monitors out there

That's what was ondering about . When you say 'fit the bill' how do you interpret that? Those who fit the bill means that when they were, in their Junior House they were already a monitor and then in their Senior house they were a House monitor or house captain. As the school was all male at the ti...

Re: Any Senior Grecians or School Monitors out there

I really wasn't expecting the position as there were at least 2 other people who seemed to fit the bill better - House captains, First XV rugby players etc, but Derek Baker seemed to want to give me my chance and as he too was from a broken home with only his mother looking after him, I guess he saw...

Re: Favourite teacher

Husband, Gunning, West were all there in my time too. Maybe Mr Endacott had retired. Mark his son was already in the school and had the same birthday as me! Neil Simms was my First XV coach and of course his son, Chris, is now a mega author. For the anecdote Gunning led the first Himalayan expeditio...

Re: BRITISH OPEN GOLF

I'll second that, Andy. A real treat to watch in the early 80s, especially when you are a young pubescent in an all boys school!
