Re: Day Pupils
I have reservations about the idea of bringing in large numbers of 'foreign' pupils because it leaves fewer places for our own needy chldren to benefit from the exclusive advantages that CH has to offer, but it had never occurred to me that people would be dredging up historical hatreds in relation...

Re: cricket stuff
Not sure whether they were cheaper. We got the jumper as it can get cold out on the field, but it was not a must. I just reasoned it was all worth it as the quality was good, they ll be playing 3 times a week and it means I don't have to take DS into town to get all the bits, a price well worth payi...

Re: cricket stuff
Yes, it's crested, but more importantly it feels and looks like good quality. Again we bought a bigger size, so it should last for next year too (if DS's grow spurt slows down that is) The brand is 'Hunts'. I did get a brochure, which I can't find right now, will have look once we ve unpacked all DS...

Re: cricket stuff
We went today after we picked up DS. They had all the stuff in Grecian's club. We bought trousers, shirt, jumper, box, pants. White tshirts / polos are fine for training. Slightly embarrassing moment when the assistant asked DS; 'do you think this box is big enough?' YES!!!!

Re: New Entrants'Day
Ok I am definitely lost now :? Are we supposed to get everything now, in time for NED? What is the purpose of NED then? No, as long as you have everything by the start of term, you'll be fine :D (or even the first half term!) Absolutely, no need to worry. We were able to get all stuff from Kukri on...

Re: New Entrants'Day
We bought very generous sizes, so it should last at least 2 years!!! The thrift shop really is great as mentioned before, we got lots of extra's from there. Maybe make that your very first stop. Dr Martens we got from Amazon as no one seemed to stock them. Not cheap but a real good essential buy, as...

Re: Leave weekends
We would not have considered CH if our DS would only come home for half terms / holidays. The leave weekends are a wonderful opportunity for our DS to not only see us and his siblings, but also his friends and extended family. He can have a bit of time all by himself, which ofcourse our children rar...

Re: Poorly children
I am so pleased to hear your DS is ok Pinkhebe. My DS is friends with him and I just had him on the phone, so could reassure him that all was well. He then immediately phoned another friend who was very very worried to tell her the good news, so she was most relieved. Very useful this forum!

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread
Ours too came on 11th Feb, I hadnt expected it yet and would have waited until DS came back from school, but through the see through address label bit I could clearly see the words 'pleased to inform you' etc etc!!!! Ofcourse my first thought was 'oh no I m losing my boy, he ll be leaving us'.....fo...

Re: Day Pupils
Lippizaner, I remember reading your comments on one of the other threads, where you were expecting your son not to get through to the residential exams, because of you living abroad. And he did! So I would just await the results first before again having a real go at CH, which confuses me as you cle...

Re: Day Pupils
I am sorry to read that many of you feel the ethos of CH has gone. My DS only started last year so we are ofcourse new, but we love the school's ethos! We felt it is very much there. We would have been unable to pay for our DS to have this wonderful chance, the experience, the high level education t...

Re: Registration fee
I m pretty sure we paid a small amount for the residential. But again, it was based upon income, pro rata and to us this seemed such a fair way of doing it. Sounds like this is not being done anymore? Sorry I can't give exact details, all seems a bit of a blur now!

Re: Registration fee
I am sure it was pro rata when we registered last year. And it seemed reasonable compared to other schools who asked for £80 to £100 registration fees!
