Re: Less than a week to go!

It's the horrible anticipation of saying goodbye and a wonderful summer holiday coming to an end, getting darker earlier and earlier :( ......But indeed after a few days we ll be back to normal and the countdown to next half term begins! We have now also experienced how very very quickly the year go...

Re: laptops

Same here. My DS is about to go into 3rd form and will not have laptop.I am not so much concerned about security aspect, it's purely financial and the fact that I could do with new one my self to be honest.....

Re: Just checking....shoes

Thank you. Good idea pinkhebe, will look into that. No, I don't want to think about going back either, will get stuff out week before! But have learned from experience not to leave school shoes to the last minute.....

Just checking....shoes

Last year DS got a great pair of Dr Martens which were well worth the money and I would still recommend! However with fast growing feet and one foot bigger then the other, DM's (no half sizes) are not going to do their magic this year....so I just wanted to double check with you all, that shoes shou...

Re: Not finding it difficult

I am REALLY looking forward to be a bit of peace and quiet as my son is as full on as her daughter. Yippee Gosh...yippee? Agree with YadaYada that we are all different and to agree to disagree. Whilst my DS is happy at CH and I am happy, I go on 'emotional auto pilot' when he is away, my way of cop...

Re: 3rd form German trip

I agree totally. It is so not right. The letter we received never mentioned there was a limited amount of spaces available. Ofcourse it should never have been offered if not able to take all those who have handed in their forms and money. Why on earth can there not be 2 trips? My DS and 2 of his hou...

Re: 3rd form German trip

Probably just not ANY cathedral Yes you re right, should have said 'the cathedral'. It looks beautiful indeed and hopefully they can spend a fair amount of time there. It's amazing how much one can learn from just one day abroad,; history, culture, people, food, architecture, language, traditions e...

Re: 3rd form German trip

It's a day trip to Cologne to visit a traditional Christmas Market in late November. They will enjoy a traditional German breakfast, and will also visit a Cathedral and a chocolate factory.... My DS is very excited about it. Sounds like a great trip. Am rather envious!

Re: It's still tough

For the sake of their future spouses, start training them now! After all we are not actually expecting them to do their own laundry, just to put it in the laundry basket, or whatever your particular system is. Couldn't agree more! As a parent of 3 boys, I ve started 'training' early. And even thoug...

Re: New Entrants'Day

How lovely to hear you had a great day. They will get the housey on the day they start. They try it on, show matron and if it does not fit right, you go to wardrobe straight away to get it adjusted. If I remember right, with all your paperwork there is a form to fill out your child's measurements in...

Cricket I suppose. If they need a 'box' for protection, a mouthguard makes sense too? Cricket balls can cause some real damage!!

Re: School Prospectus

Anyway, the school is too far away to make access practicable now that it seems that boarding in reality only means weekly boarding. This is actually not the case at all, a rumour put straight in the last Head Master's letter. I have stood up for CH a couple of times before and will do so again. Wh...

Re: It's still tough

I start the lumps in throat a few days before DS goes back, DS himself will go very quiet the hour or so before going back, and yes then the drive and the saying goodbye. And then oddly enough relief that the saying goodbye is over. And the countdown to coming home has started! During yesterday's jou...

Re: Cricket jumper

We were advised to get one as it can get very cold in their polyester tops. The one we got is a plain cream sleeveless one.
