Re: GRECIANS CLUB
Like many others, I have no recollection of my first night in the Club (May 1989, end of my Deps) I never really realised what a priviledge it was to have such a facility at our disposal and it is A Great Shame that it has not survived. It was a real rite of passage and something to look ...

Re: Does anyone on this forum go to church?
Can anyone inform us -----Are the current Bibles the same ? is the "Charge" included ? is the Apocrypha included ? What say you -- young OBs ? I don't think I qualify as YOB (Young Old Blue) any more :( , but in 1990 we were given the Authorized King James version without the Apocrypha, a...

Re: Current reading matter
I've just finished a book called 'I Didn't Say I Was Perfect' by Zoe Higginson. It's a curious blend of her own life story (including inter alia her time at an all girls' Boarding School in Hertfordshire which is clearly identifiable, and a move to another (mixed) school in Sussex, which again is p...

Re: Current reading matter
The Sittaford Mystery is set on Dartmoor I think, near Okehampton near us. I love Agatha Christie, currently have Five Little Pigs and After The Funeral out of the library but proceeding slowly as other thing are grabbing my attention! I did read Towards Zero ages ago and also the Tommy and Tuppence...

Re: Housey Slang.....
With regards to toyces, I have just googled the word and was suprised to see that it is used as a Christian/given name. There is a La Toyce Lee (f) and a Toyce Le Grange (m) both registered on Facebook. (Now going to look for Lav-End Lestrange and Bocker Batty.)

Re: Singing Old Blues
Are the Singing Old Blues planning any events this year? We are sometimes in Brighton and Kent and could swell numbers if dates fitted (and we were allowed)?

Re: Does anyone on this forum go to church?
This is a great subject to get your teeth into! My family has been heavily involved in the church for several generations from my grandfather as Church Warden and Treasurer, to my mum as Organist and Choir Director (and the usual 'women's jobs' like flower arranger and brass cleaner), Dad as sidesma...

Did Dog Woof Lane get the vote? Am dying to know.
The lane next to our old cottage was previously titled Cacky Lane as it was the old drovers way for cattle and would be suitably daubed with manure during their travels through.

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread
And cj, what did we do at Hertford at the weekends in the evening? I don't think we were allowed to even set foot out of house were we? The burning question. B*gger all I think. But then I was only a lowly junior and we weren't allowed to breathe without written permission from the 6th form and the...
