Re: What Sounds & Smells Instantly Transport You Back to CH?

The theatre, at least when new, had a distinctive odour that I could only describe if I smelt it again. I went into the theatre on last year's Old Blues Day, and the "distinctive odour" was exactly the same. Not sure that I can describe it. I guess that it must be one of the materials use...

Re: Is this sharp practice?

Its amazing the difference in pertol stations near each other-the one at end of road is consistently 2p cheaper than any other and the stations near work which are 10 miles away are about 5p more exspensive. I have a friend, who inbetween doing other things, does the odd shift at a filling station/...

I've had the same thing, saw the price of Diesel, pulled up at the pump only to see a higher price for "special" Diesel. I think that I put about 3l in, just enough to make sure that I would make it to the supermarket!

Either the school uniform, or sometimes (less used now I think) the school itself.

Re: House shirt colours

I think we mean the same thing. Re Maine A amber puts me in mind of orange rather than yellow and the colours were closer to Yellow than orange as I recall. I also cannot tell navy from black very easily so you are probably right there! I think that they started as amber, but by the time they had b...

....... Lamb A Similar to Thorn B but bigger hoops ...... Maine A Yellow and navy hoops Maine A was Amber and Black hoops (in 1970, but I don't think that it had changed by '77) Lamb A was Maroon and White hoops, these were larger hoops than the Maine A ones (about 4" rather than 1.5"). W...

Re: Old Blues Rifle Club

When you could be eating them outside at Jenny's! I know, poor me, banging stuff out of the air with a soread of shot when I could be accurate and precise; but then I do that all day at work so it's very theraputic to load a trap at the weekend and blast the hell out of it!! Jenny's is just next to...

Re: Postboxes

I find Her Majesty's Mail is regularly deliberately tampered with, especially parcels. My mum sent me chocolate at Easter and the wrappers has been torn open and no effort had been made to hide this or to put it back to how it was. That's just one example of numerous ones that I've found upon openi...

This was Mrs Johnson, who always wanted to abolish kiff-bowls, but somehow never managed.
She did in the end, as by 1970 they were only in use as sugar bowls. I think that she retired about 1971-2.
