Re: Automotive Anecdotes
JDS had a succession of increasingly fast cars whilst I was at the school - I think he started off with a BMW 325I, worked up to a 5 series and then moved onto Jaguars. I remember going up to the Lakes at some speed in the Jag whilst he was testing out both the cruise control and the bass of the sp...

Re: Gruesome Encounter of the Newsome Kind
Private Eye had run a story on the shenanigans surrounding Newsome's contractually premature departure from CH in 1979 over his lack of sympathy for a co-educational future – Head of half the world was clearly enough of a job. Was that why he went? I think that I heard a slightly different versio...

Re: Uniform
I started in 1970, and only ever had the pre-assembled button in bands. I remember a few older boys still had the type that required two pins.
We often used to pin the button in bands to the inside of the coat collar, which helped if you were not wearing the issued shirt.....

Re: Re:
Don't know whether this counts......maybe need a thread on the generally wierd........ anyway, who recalls a couple of blokes who were in Lamb A, I believe in the mid 70s, one of whom had blonde hair, a limp and tended to wear army gear as much as possible, including some sort of scarf........anywa...

Re: CH Colours
Sorry - no news on where to obtain repro School Colours. Tried the School office but nobody there can help. Andrew, do you still have yours - maybe I can get a badge maker/wirer to make me a copy ? Regards to all. Ian I do, but mine were not the best example of badge making that I have seen, the de...

Re: CH Colours
The trouble seems to be --- to whom do we ask the question ? Posts on this topic are interesting and informative ------ but who has the power to say yes or no ? Personally, Neill, I would suggest an e-mail to the School Office. I guess that there are two questions: 1 Does the school issue the badge...

Re: CH Colours
I would guess that blazer badges went with the blazers (whenever that was).NEILL THE NOTORIOUS wrote:Seriously --- are they still awarded ? and if so, to whom do I apply, for a late award (No fault of mine -- Herr Hitler's !)

Re: CH Colours
• Many years ago, when I was at CH (1972-1978) I was actively involved with the CCF and School shooting VIII, eventually becoming team Captain. • I was awarded my school colours, of which I was disproportionately proud. • Having lost these some years ago, I would like to replace them. • Ple...

All the fire doors would be a bit of a block to use as a thoroughfare now!

Re: So, the underground tunnels...
I believe the section to the old gym and swimming baths (which surely would have left from under the dining hall and not by Leigh Hunt) was closed in the early 60's as it was under threat of collapsing... It did leave from under dining hall. The entrance is/was a crawl, but it soon became full high...

Re: External hard drives
We have had a couple of these, both were LaCie branded. The first was carried back and forth on the back of a push bike for a couple of years before it stopped working, the other has mainly stayed put and is still fine. There is a general problem with external drives and USB port power so that and s...

I have receive this in an email from another Old Blue "I have received the sad news today from Bob (Rocker) Rae, that 'Chief' Bradley sadly died last week. It was all quite sudden apparently and totally unexpected. Chief had had a brief spell in hospital, where he came out as right as rain and ...
