Re: We have adopted.........................
Not quite the same I know but I'm very aware that our animals are very sensitive to emotions. Our first Beardie Razzle used to leave home if Mick and I ever argued or even raised our voices. It was quite embarrassing because she would always go to my friend Jenny's house about half a mine away and J...

Have not been on best form recently, lost our lovely young dog Blaze at end of August, home bred - several generations - and stunning - adored by all of us and with an ever-growing fan club - you...

Re: Old Blue Boys and Girls or Men and Women?
Hi Just picked up on this.... I went to Hertford as a docile, shy (goody goody) child having quite strict parents, especially father....and it was ever my aim to stay out of trouble, lay low, something of a chameleon and certainly NEVER naughty. Yet because of all those RULES (I'm sure some of them ...

Re: weighing and measuring
"Feet" was pointless. The effort would have been better spent making sure all our shoes fitted well. I went from 2's to 5's in shoe sizes in less than three years and almost always had shoes that were slightly too small. Like the ancient Chinese practice of foot binding......not good. Liz

Re: weighing and measuring
One wonders with hindsight whether this wealth of statistics served any practical purpose? Perhaps somewhere is a dreary journal entitled "Variable Growth Rates of Teenage Girls in the Boarding School Environment" with chapters like "The Relationship of Wingspan to Bra Cup Size" ...

Re: weighing and measuring
Long ago.....sigh....when I was first at CH and looked like a spidery little weed, I can remember being five feet tall and weighing five stones. It had a beautiful symmetry! Nowadays I have more stones than feet. But I blame CH food for my lingering obsession with really fresh bread, butter and jam....

Hi There is of course a song about this....by Harvey Andrews on the "Somewhere in the Stars" CD. Track 4: "The House Of Your Dreams" Any more HA fans out there? We are admittedly a minority, but that's only because he remains uncharted territory to many, a couple of his songs are...

Re: The Pedant's Revolt
Hmmmmm.... At the dog show today, held at the splendid purpose-built MyPetStop faclity at Leeds, I noticed a new sign, neatly lettered up to be visible from afar... "ECXCERCISE AREA" Alternately winced and giggled all the way home. And yet they have no problem with hydrotherapy, va...

Hi Mary That one's going the rounds, and because people know I do herding, I keep getting it sent to me!! Clever stuff CGI and seamlessly blended. There are some who think it's for real..."Aren't Border Collies clever??" They certainly are, but not that clever. BTW was it stressful for the...

Re: Grand National
Hi Again JR You'll be pleased to hear then that docking is no more :D and only "undocked and legally docked" dogs are permitted to participate in shows run under the KC's jurisdiction. Docking is still permitted in some other countries (USA and Ireland for starters) and there is a technica...

Re: Grand National
Hi JR I don't think it made any financial difference to the KC whether the BBC put in an appearance at Crufts or not, they still got their entries (the third highest entry of all time) including a large number of overseas entrants, and stll had the space hire fee from all the trade stands, lots and ...

Re: Grand National
Hi Mary We live in North Yorkshire - real racing territory - and at our last home in Norton, Malton, had more than a dozen training yards wihin a few miles radius of our home, most of which brought their lovely strings of youngsters out at exercise past our front gate every morning. My husband's ext...
