Re: Lamb House Photos
Here are photographs of Lamb B in approximately 1977 and 1978: http://www.themolecularuniverse.com/MMMGIF/LambB1978-ish.jpg I’ll have a stab at the 1978 names: Bottom row (L-R): James Hawksworth, Chris Baker, Emrys Jones, Richard ‘Bill’ Keble, Paul Beynon, ??, ??, Paul Goodyer, Adam Edmunds, James ...

Re: IICSA - Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse
Not quite true There are two further phases of IICSA in this particular part of the inquiry. They can choose not to cover a specific case study. However, if a significant number of persons has requested this should happen of a particular institution they can be held in contempt of the rules of the ...

Re: IICSA - Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse
In order to manage expectations, I think I should point out that Phase 2 of this investigation by the Inquiry is thematic/issues based. This means that there will not be individual investigations/ case studies of further institutions, unlike in Phase I. However, it is likely that CH has, rather than...

Re: Response from the Head Master
I’m not sure if the posters in this thread have read this: https://www.christs-hospital.org.uk/christshospital-live/assets/File/Headmaster%20and%20Treasurer's%20Statement%20to%20Old%20Blues%2023%20July%202019.pdf It would seem that the school seems willing to support victims/survivors without limit?...

Re: Roger Martin - trial
Did the question of lack of control crop up at any other times in your career beyond the rugby match incident? "Vilified" isn't on trial here you know, I think this barrack-room lawyering has the potential to drive away a source of interesting historical perspective who voluntarily signed...

Re: CH in this week's Economist magazine re sex scandal in 1815
The link above works You need to suscribe and pay the dues to read the full article... Suffice to say, Sir Eyre Coote MP was caricatured by Cruikshank for paying older boys in the Mathematical School for a session of mutual flagellation in 1815; and being caught by the school nurse. https://images....

Re: frieze in dayroom of infirmary
Page93 of Ken Mansell's "C H in the Victorian era " gives a map diagram of the Buildings of CH from 1902 which shows the Infirmary in the same shade of colouring as the House Blocks and other main buildings. No doubt he will be able to confirm this. It also shows the site of the Sanatoriu...

Re: NEW BOOK - OLD BLUES WHO DIED IN WW2
My daughter's governor on behalf of the BSB, Doreen Martin, had a son who was a pupil at CH but died suddenly during the school holidays of an undetected heart defect - he certainly had a plaque; I cannot remember his name (possibly Clive, or perhaps Clive was his father?) I have come across your p...

Re: Morbid, but...
Having just come across this thread, it reminds me of another unnamed-so-far and un-plaqued pupil who passed away during his time at CH. His name was Clive Martin (known as 'CR'). He died during the summer holidays in 1976 after completing his first year in the 2nd Form in LHA. Like so many in this ...

Re: Lamb House Photos
If I remember correctly, this photo was taken in 1977. I'm guessing it's more likely to be Summer 1976 as the Cresswell twins and others who were in Grecians in 78/79 (the year I entered La B) are sitting on the ground in the front row in the photo implying that they'd be the most junior year of th...

Back in my day in the 1960s when streaming was in operation it went: Second form Third form Little Erasmus Great Erasmus ( O levels) Deputy Grecians Grecians ( A levels ) Grecians ( 2nd parting ) ( Oxbridge and S levels ) for the intelligent. Continuing the theme of house photos I dug up my old one from late 1968 0r early 1969. I can't remember why but I managed to get practically everybody to sign their names on the back of the picture including the staff. I spot Miss Haigh (Matron) in all of these photos - meaning that the sta...
