Mel's Milers 10k race at CH...

I did the Mel's Milers 10k today, which starts in the Quad and goes out around Big Side then along the old railway line to Southwater and back to the quad via the Western Avenue. It's a good friendly race and CH looked lovely in the Spring weather. So those of you of a running persuasion put a note ...

Re: Married at CH...

Yeah I thought exactly that too Katharine. Does this mean we have a thief in our midst??? I asked Matron on the last day of term if I could keep my socks and she said yes! (She wouldn't let me have a shirt though). They still have my house number written on the tags :) They were the 'specia...

Thanks for sharing - brave girl getting married in a low backed dress in the snow! OH's comment was "Well she had her love to keep her warm!" Pity there isn't a picture of the yellow socks! The dress was stunning :) Socks picture here ;) http://www.gbelectronics.plus.com/dump/matt_wedding...

Re: Married at CH...

You lucky ******* !! I expect many of us would have liked that opportunity, which, alas did not exist for either of my Weddings ! Is the privilege restricted to Old Blues ? CH is available for anyone to get married at a civil ceremony in the Court Room and then reception in Dining Hall or Big Schoo...

Married at CH...

We got married at CH on the 19th December 2009 in the snow - we wanted a winter wedding and it delivered - fabulous luck. A few pics can be seen here off our photographer's website: http://tinyurl.com/ycr9czb I wore my original pair of yellow socks with my suit, kept me warm too during the day :) If...

Re: What Sounds & Smells Instantly Transport You Back to CH?

The sound of chainsaws always takes me back to the days after the 16th October 1987 when CH was being cleared of all the fallen trees.

A father asked his 11-year-old son if he knew about the birds and the bees. "I don't want to know!" the child said, bursting into tears. "Promise me you won't tell me!" Confused, the father asked what was wrong. The boy sobbed, "When I was six, I got the "There's no San...

Ah, that reminds me, I'm sure I've seen Ewen from time to time cycling/walking along Brighton seafront while I'm driving on my way to work in the mornings. Whether or not it is seeing Ewen or his lookalike and indeed seeing those names in the thread title brings back memories of my squits in Maine, ...

Preview thread...

On some other forums I visit if you hover the mouse over the subject in the list of threads you get a four line preview of the first post's contents. This I find handy for when (like I am now :) ) you're playing catch-up and want to see if threads are of interest (unlike when you're on-top of the in...

Re: tunnels

It runs under most of the original buildings (someone once released a stink bomb in chapel from under the floor). Anthony Moss allegedly (I’d better add for legal reasons!) made a home-made stink & smoke bomb that was placed in the Tube under chapel and went off during the choir rehearsal for...

In 1990 I used to work with Piers Caunter on the pupil's telephone system - PTS - (the exchange for this was (is - perhaps it's still there?) in a room next to the Tuck Shop behind Coleridge). This gave me a 'pass' to work in the Tube on the exchange cabling but was curtailed in 1991 due to them 'se...
