NEW CHA WEBSITE

Dear Louise & Julian, I have had an initial look at the new site and think that it is terrific - very well done to you both. It will take many hours if not weeks to work out the full extent of the facilities and information that you have now made available to all of us but I am sure that I speak...

Briadie Buckles

There was a great shortage of buckles after the war (WW2 not Falklands!) and it was very much 'hand me down'. It was near impossible to keep one when you left as most of the house juniors were queueing to take it from you. I agree. I was in Lamb at mnuch the same time and there seemed to be a stric...

Interesting. It is obviously a recent development as I cannot remember anyone wearing two buckles in my time - but that was a very long time ago!

This year's Tattoo will take place between August 4th. and August 26th. Right in the middle of the Summer holdays..... Point taken, but I was really wondering whether the school band had ever been invited , as they are certainly better than some of the bands taking part there. I wonder also whether...

I understood it was to be a 'City of London' do. (hence CH0 so was the full fig chap not the Lord Mayor? I think some of the others were Liverymen etc I am pretty certain that it wasn't the Lord Mayor, Mary, as he walked the whole way and did not have all those sword-bearers, mace bearers, etc, etc...

Were you ashamed to be seen looking so closely at young ladies? I reported the incident exactly as it happened. The band and others in the procession came to a stop outside one of the Palace gates and the crowd (such as it was) then surrounded the band. I talked very briefly to several of the Housi...

Rafferty

(In case that puzzles anyone, Chips Rafferty was an Austrlaian film-star of the 1950s. Appeared in films such as "The Overlanders")

BROADIE BUCKLES

As I mentioned previously, I attended the ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Friday, at the end of which I was very close to the Band. One thing I observed which puzzled me was that some of the boys (maybe girls too, but I didn't notice) had TWO buckles on their broadie girdles. Can anyone explain why...

I'm going to play in someone elses play-ground because Marty is a particularly dapper young intellectually deficient person who keeps reminding those brave and forgiving young pupils that life can sometimes and almost will drop various unsavoury yet unaccountably caerulean tinted onomatopoeic dysfun...

MANAGER CHA

Julian, You write: I appreciate your concerns over input from the CHA board, but don't forget that the board has a Council member on it as part of the membership consituents, and also the full support and input from the Clerk himself, and hence I'm sure that a suitable person will be found soon. I a...

Don't know - that's owned by the school, so we don't really get officially involved. I'm sure they're making progress though. Julian, You made the above remark in answer to a question about a replacement for Sara Voice. I suggest that you are incorrect, because the "school" (which is head...

The Birthday Card Parade

I can speak with some authority on this, because I was there . First, and most important, the C.H. Band was terrific. I was standing on the Queen Victoria Memorial (the "Wedding Cake") and saw the procession come down the Mall. I must admit that I had some doubts because the route was abou...

You are quite correct. As to pedantry, you are only a true pedant if you insist on referring to Which Tyler's Revolt.
