Hello Maureen I didn't realise you were Steve's brother. I remember Steve well but can't remember him leaving early. He was a good friend of Graham's (thought of Graham the other day, as his uncle was Peter Osgood, who's death at a family funeral hit the newspapers recently.) Steve introduced us to...

who was the really fantastic pianist in 5's who also played the organ, I remember her practicing Chopins Fanasie and being very impressed (well lets face it we all were easily impressed! I seem to have forgotten as well how you organise a quotation. The fantastic pianist must have been Lynn Ford who...

I must have been mistaken with the name of Miss Wilson. I stand corrected. I think I was also confusing Miss Mercer(History) and probably before my time with Miss Marter (later Mrs Roxborough). in fact I know I was wrong because I went to check my old reports. I also mistook Miss Rutherford, who tau...

Thanks Howard H for asking after Steve. He's Professor of English at Birkbeck, also Academic Director for London Consortium, so quite prominent in his field. He leaves all the archive stuff to his little sister, but I might persuade him to sign up!

You're generous in your couple of years!! But there are some names i certainly remember. Did Jane Newton have a sister in Sixes? Yes, I remember Margaret Foxton. She was Head Girl in the year above me. I wonder if you're thinking of Carina Williams in 8's? Actually if it is the same person I think s...

I was at Hertford at the time this photo was taken, but it caught my interest because had my brother stayed at CH a bit longer he would have been in it. He was/is Steven Connor. I'm quite good with names and faces (teacher) and impressed myself by being able to identify Graham Lister in the back row...

Some amazing exchanges here... I don't think I can match any of the accounts. My son appeared minutes after arriving at Dorchester Hospital in July 1990 - not even time for gas and air - and weighed 11lbs 7oz...just slipped out. He lay in the cot and the midwife suggested that he would be a rugby pl...

Have been meaning also to log my house number - 6.21. Alex was 6.17, I think, and I'm honestly remembering that out of nowhere. It's just struck me, but it could be wrong. Such a strange thing, memory. Does anyone else remember what Sin City was? Just when one thought the regime couldn't get more re...

Not at all sure if this is the right place to post this as I haven't been here for a couple of weeks. Can someone of my generation verify the following? I remember Miss Mercer well, but I remember her better as Mrs Roxburgh, as she married whilst I was there. She replaced Miss Cole I think, (a rathe...

Now, I'm very new to this. But is anyone else out there at all worried about Alex's sleeping habits/ Maybe she's like Mrs.Thatcher....ouch! Or is she on the night shift? I thought Mary was the midwife. Must dash, half-term over, back to school tomorrow......

What happened to the laundry school on the ground floor of the Science block, opposite the Physics labs? By the 70s this was being used as a Geography teaching room, used by Miss Wilson - who else? I remember my last Geography lesson with her in about January 1974. I had to draw a map of a very str...

As I wrote that I suddenly remembered 'Backs'. You would have had to have been part of this to understand the sheer humiliation involved in contorting yourself around at 8.30 in the morning in your jumpsuit (now they were really flattering items of gym wear - not). To rub it in the girls who didn't...

Re: Cherry Reds and Tweeds!!

Oh happy days! Shoes were passed on from one to the next - and God help you (literally) if they were no clean and sparkly - cleaning the shoe brushes was a foul punnishment ! until we were in the 5th form we had to wear socks - when finally a "senior" and allowed to wear "tan or Amer...

Re: Hertford production on record (LP) Noyes Floode - B.Brit

Does anyone have a copy or even remember performing Noyes Floode at the Hertford Parish Church? I was a pea-hen - boringly covered in brown all over!! I can still hear parts of it in my head - especially the Keria's..! If anyone has a copy, or can find it to download please contact me - I would lik...
