Re: Dobbie sentencing hearing

"...when he confided in a fellow teacher at the school he was told to "get over it and move on"."

Which heartless arse of a teacher said that? That is outrageous.

Re: Taio Cruz - Old Blue or not?

I may well have missed some posts but the last I read was that it was unclear if Taio really was an Old Blue or not. That was the line I took in this piece I wrote about him in late 2009: http://trongon.blogspot.com/2009/11/not-ours.html Since then, assertions that he went to CH have continued to a...

Re: Poulton, Cairncross, Sillett

Edited with a correction- I believe the Chaplain May have retired after ill health. Sheila Banyard, who used to compete with Elizabeth Cairncross in the warmth-and-empathy-in-pastoral-care stakes, is still ‘something’ in the Church Of England franchise. Looks like she may have retired last Septembe...

Re: Poulton, Cairncross, Sillett

I was at Ch 1990-95. It was common knowledge that husband and dobbie did what they did. Does anybody know if these three have been investigated? I vividly recall being told not to tell anybody outside the school that husband had left with pupil. They really should be looked into, clearly breached d...

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie

did GWD live at Whites at a certain time? Yes, Dobbie lived at Whites in the 90s (at least up until '96 when I left). Reverend Murdoch and his 6 kids lived at Whites between 92-94 - did Dobbie move in after for a couple of years before he became housemaster? Perhaps he moved for them, I don't remem...

Can we get transcripts?

Does anyone know if transcripts of the trial of Dobbie and Husband would be available? If so, is it a case of applying to the relevant transcription service and paying the fee?

Many thanks.

Re: Dobbie's departure

Interesting wording from the then head of Shrewsbury School when announcing that Dobbie had “decided to retire”...I think not! Paragraph 4 https://www.shrewsbury.org.uk/sites/default/files/uploads/files/welcome/HMsLetterToParents_Sep2016.pdf And yet in the press the school statement read, “The scho...

Mike O'Connor head of Art 90s era

Sad to hear that Mr O'Connor is no longer with us, I have no knowledge of how/why/when but read a post online by someone who was reminiscing about him and that he had passed. Many many hours spent in the art school, many of them with him, a good man, could be tough, but for all the right reasons. He...

Your mum on toast !

What the hell does/did it mean? I remember it was some kind of insult or retort. Was it only a CH thing or does anyone know of non-old blues who used it?

Paul Deller, artist in residence when I was at CH, was taught by Mike O'Conner who I believe he replaced as head of art.
