Re: It's time for Sillett, Cairncross and Poulton to comment.

For what it is worth I cannot see anything wrong in anything Wurzel has posted. There has been an element of conflating historic issues on various threads, particularly with regard to Sillett, and I think all Wurzel is essentially requesting is a bit of clarity of thought. I certainly don't gain the...

Hi Howard, Thank you for your responses - they are indeed reassuring. I am not badgering you - but I am again interested in your comment. 27 y...

Re: Roger Martin

Isn’t 6 months or so fairly average for this? You are pretty much spot on Plum. Since Operation Yewtree the through put of sex offences in the Crown Court is between 60 and 70% of the workload. Cases with young witnesses are supposed to be tried within 8 weeks. Where the accused in in custody the c...

Re: Roger Martin

not even a cut and paste from Simon Reid Embarrassing and cheap. I wonder what the purpose of you being on this forum is Howard? You seem more concerned to defend every tiny act of Simon Reid (and yes, I'm right to criticise, if all the school can be bother to do after each court case is a cut and ...

Re: Roger Martin

Karim just got ten years but Mr. Taylor is right in saying 'not guilty until proven so'. That is our legal system. I just hope that he doesn't drag the people he abused, or is accused of abusing, through a trial. Haven't all of the victims gone through enough already? I have. There is more to come....

Re: A comment from a Sexual Abuse Victim from CH

You have my respect firstly for being brave enough to speak so openly of your experiences and secondly for finding the inner strength and resilience to rise above the trauma of being abused and go on to attain the rank and qualifications shown in your signature. The majority of us posting regularly ...

Re: Letter to the Head Master

The moderators have emailed to tell me that my limerick has been removed because one or two people have objected. OK, but by the same token Jim Rayner posted a "like" and richardb laughed at it. So how do we decide when something should be removed? If people are going to object should they not be o...

Re: Letter to the Head Master

Jim has beaten me to the punch but I concur with his comments re timings for Webb and Burr. I left Maine A in the summer of 1968 and Burr had been a junior housemaster for all of that academic year. In fact I think he came in with Basil Gregory in September 1966 when Maine A became a junior house fu...

Re: What was the food chain?

Did anyone on here ever eat in the OB's Club when it was in London ? I did once, and once was enough !! I tried to once with another Old Blue friend who was also working in the City at the time. (Mid / late seventies). We wandered in and didn't see a soul for about 5 minutes. Then a chap appeared a...

Re: Phone boxes

I only recall 3 phone boxes. The ones behind the Courtroom and next to the Tuckshop that have already been mentioned, and one next to the Post Office. These were the only ones I recall, although I believe senior Housemasters had a phone in their study, presumably for "emergencies". As a policeman, ...
