Re: Christ's Hospital Singers LP
Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party! Thanks for posting that Youtube link. It's very many years since I last listened to that LP (which I once owned a copy of in the dim and distant past). It really is quite a good recording isn't it? I was one of the Chapel Choir leaders in 1978 when the recording w...

Re: David Newsome
It sounds as if he wasn't a great success at CH. I wouldn't say that. I was there under his Headship from 1972 to 78 and he was highly respected and well thought of. The Theatre (or The Arts Centre as it was known then) and the Octagon were built during that time which was a pretty good legacy. His...

Re: David Newsome
Newsome's 'fall out' with the Council was over the closure of Hettford and the girls joining the boys in Horsham. He was strongly against this and resigned in protest. The consequence of this was that HMC supported him and refused to allow the new Head to become a member of their exclusive club. Thi...

Re: Cain!
I remember Cain. It was definitely my era and DNP got very excited about it. I probably did the lighting for it but I can't quite recall that. I did own a copy of the lp record album though. My first job after school was working as a tecnician in the Electrics dept. at the Young Vic. The Artistic Di...

I was there, right at the end of the procession, and yes they did sound good but the poor things looked very wet and fed up.

Don't worry, we're planning on keeping our apartment in Dinard which, as we'll be living quite close to Stansted Airport, is bound to be well used (I'll have to use up my seven weeks holiday somehow !) Income isn't a problem over here in France as our holiday business earns quite a good living (hope...

Anyone fancy a new dream lifestyle in France ?
Having been offered a really good job back in London we've decided to sell up in France and move back home (yes, yes, yes I know - everyone else thinks we're completely mad too, and we probably are!). So . . . If anyone like the idea of moving to France and buying into a home and lifestyle with a re...

I still have mine but I really don't know why. It only means something to me and none of my family would have any interest in it. I'm not really a sentimental person and don't like needless clutter but for some reason I haven't been able to part with it. It is still attached to the original (circa 1...

Many of us went through junior then senior houses so experienced both ends of The Avenue as a matter of course! Difficult to choose in those circumstances! Except for those who didn't quite make it to the senior end of the avenue and only moved as far as Lamb ! Yes, it was much more of a junior / s...

I loved my time at CH on the whole. Even the bad bits (usually when I was in trouble) don't colour my feelings. If I had my time again I would want to take the work a little more seriously but still do all the other exciting things. I think it is great the way CH has moved with the times and it is, ...
