The sentencing hearing was adjourned for around 6 weeks.
Probably a missing probation report.

Re: Ben Breakwell convicted of abuse
I am not sure why you dismiss out of hand the notion that people who are abused become abusers. People who are abused are entitled to remain anonymous unless - like Rob - they choose to waive it. Sadly I have often come abusers admitting to having been abused. The abuse affects them in many differen...

Re: Ben Breakwell convicted of abuse
No one is saying that he was abused at the school. The bone of contention is whether it is likely he was schooled, influenced or manipulated into doing the things he did by events or people 25 years ago at the school he himself went to. We don't know whether or not he was abused at school. There is...

Which may be the case. We will probably never know. But if he was abused at school it would offer a potential explanation. No one is saying that he was abused at the school. Re: Ben Breakwell convicted of abuse
It's well recognised that those who are abused become abusers.
Whether this happened to Breakwell may emerge at his sentencing hearing, although it is likely to buried away in a Probation report and not said out loud

Re: Ernest Christopher "Kit" Aitken
For practical reasons I have a subscription to the British Newspaper Archive. Two references in it to Ernest Christopher Aitken. 1. In June 1939 a man of that name gave evidence for the prosecution at the Fleet, having been involved in a road traffic accident. He is described as a schoolmaster of th...

Re: Webb guilty. Again.
Just to try to explain this. Webb was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment in 2015 for offences against one victim. I believe that he pleaded guilty. He was sentenced in 2017 for offences against four victims. He pleaded guilty and his sentence was eventually five and a half years. He has been senten...

Re: Another Fitting Sentence !!
And another one. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-53681417 Interesting to see that Hove Crown Court is open, as there is some doubt as to whether Webb's case will proceed on schedule at Lewes. Most courts are open but not for trials. The difficulty with trials is the need for social dis...

Re: Elizabeth Cairncross
Sadly there is still no criminal offence which enables a teacher turning a blind eye to sexual abuse or covering up for it to be prosecuted. There is no appetite in government to introduce such an offence given what are seen as other priorities. If one parent abuses their child and the other parent...
