Re: Riots, London and Elsewhere

Quite enjoyed (in the most sarcastic sense of the word) how Cameron and friends jumped to blame single parent families for the riots - totally ridiculous - I know many many people who grew up in single parent families who are incredibly well balanced people who wouldn't think of looting or rioting. ...

Re: Strikes !

I feel smug re: the tube strikes as I can get the boat to work :)
I'm also a union member, but my place of work isn't going on strike (it would be a bit...ironic)

Politics

Hi all, I'm now working in the exciting world of politics, and am building up a bit of experience in some different areas. If you want any advice etc then please DM me (or email would be better, not sure if my email address shows though!) I'd rather not talk the contentious issue of "politics&q...

Re: Do untidy kids improve at CH?

Message left about my room on the communal board in GrE on my 18th birthday:
"Your room looks like a bomb has hit it. Please address this" This describes me before, during and after CH. Sorry about that ;)

Re: RED ED !!

I'm a bit suspicious of this "unelectable" thing. As I said in my last post when I was out campaigning in both Birmingham Edgbaston and Birmingham Ladywood a lot of people were saying what Ed said in his Tuesday speech about immigration, communities, cuts, jobs, families, work life balance...

Re: RED ED !!

Also was moved by him talking about why he got into politics and how his family came to live in the UK - mum was in hiding in Poland in the war and his Dad + grandad had to flee to the UK. Talking about the hope and opportunities that the UK gave his family and how he wants to be part of providing t...

Re: Happy Birthday Hannoir ......

I just logged on and saw this!

Thank you. I had a good day, then went to NYC. Now I'm ill though. I blame the recycled air on planes.

Re: RED ED !!

Glad he won. Provides something different to the Clegg/Cameron machine.

His speech was spot on with a lot of things too. A lot of stuff he said about community, families, bankers etc were exactly what people were saying on the doorstep when I was campaigning for the election.

I think having sex on the grounds (and being caught) was grounds for expulsion in my day.

Re: Come On England!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

England were rubbish! Even someone with no football knowledge can see that.
They should be paid in line with performance - bet they would make more of an effort then. Also some england fans should be shot for the racism they should yesterday towards the Germans. I was shocked.

Re: Come On England!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bet the North Koreans will be in trouble when they get home. Also the French. Ha!

In other news, come on New Zealand! Can't believe they held Italy to a draw. Bet soccer will be getting much more funding when they get home. Some of the players on sunday were only semi-pro!

Re: Day Pupils.

Not sure about that. I think so, but do not know so. Based on this year's figures the competative entry remained over subscribed by about 4 to 1. The entrance papers (that my son took this year) are very similar to 11+ papers you can get on the internet or in WHSmiths. Tough but manageable if your ...
