Re: Matrons

Many thanks for the updates on Mrs Riches.

In my original post I should of said I wasn't aware she was married with a son whilst I was in Coleridge.

Re: Matrons

I hadn't realised that the Coleridge matron, Mrs Riches, was a married woman, let alone that she had a son.

Re: Matrons

In the Prep houses in my day, Matron was Miss Haigh. On reflection now, she seemed quite young for the post.

Re: The band leading the People’s Procession at the Cenotaph tomorrow

My wife has found a clip of the band at the cenotaph yesterday that someone has posted on YouTube which in my view is far better than the Beebs effort.

I rarely use social media sites but it might be worth a trawl for you to find.

Re: The band leading the People’s Procession at the Cenotaph tomorrow

Well worth waiting for but such a shame it was such a short shot of the band

Unfortunately David Dimblebum hadn't done his research well enough beforehand.

His words of 'school or regiment' until someone prompted him through his ear-piece 'school' rather showed him up.

HUSBAND APPEAL ??

James Andrew Husband is applying for permission (leave) to appeal against his sentence on 27th November at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London. Re: Duncan Noel-Paton [FOUND]

Just spent some time going back through this thread.

I believe the large castle type house mentioned in places is Holmbush House at Faygate which is just off the dual carriageway from Horsham to Crawley.

I'm sure Plum would be able to confirm this. Lovely oldie worldly pub near by as well.

Re: Teaching staff

How time rushes past.

Dippy nib pens and messy ink-wells in my day. Biros etc forbidden. Calculators were still far away on the horizon, though I doubt CMES would have ever allowed them if they had suddenly appeared off the horizon.

Mr Bullard taught me for a short while.

He was what today could be described as a 'walking computer'.

Re: From the sublime to the ridiculous

I'm almost too afraid to add my thoughts.

Maybe ex CH teaching staff could enlighten us. However, what deceased people have said in the past is really nothing to do with today.
