Re: How far did the rot spread?

Although many victims have "come out" I have to wonder how many other pupils were persuaded to go over to the dark side and in later life may become like those teachers found guilty.

Re: "Petition 2018" to Council for a "Truth & Reconciliation Inquiry"

Well said, sir. I am impatient for answers and want to get them but more time is required by the police. When they confirm enquiries are complete, we can move forward. Maybe but how much more time will the police require. He who knows suggests a largish number of further victims so more trials may ...

Re: Mr Clippy

I need to respond with a repeated response. Never in CMES's day. An Occasional film in Big School for us oldies. No TV's in my day. By far the most violent film at CH (and for the day it was probably the equivalent of an 18) was The Dambusters. Not too long after that, and following long discussion...

Re: Freemasons and questions to answer

Yes, I was approached again later in life by a good friend unconnected with CH. I didn't sign up, thanks in part I suppose to CH-fostered prejudice about freemasonry. What he suggested at the time was that the real reason for all the secrecy was to conceal the fact that it was really just a drinkin...

Re: A WAY AHEAD?

If it was going to be a Government enquiry, I think even a 3 year wait would be too optimistic ! JR: just two comments: a) don't swear in public b) remember the last government enquiry when it was found (AFAIR) that the suicide was not the fault of overenthusiasticand violent use of punishme...

Re: Management knowledge of the Husband/Dobbie cases

JR. I am slightly surprised at the warnings given to you by the Clerk to the Court. My understanding is that what is said is, with exceptions, public knowledge and if required a transcript should be available. The exceptions include if a witness is not named, information which could lead to their na...

Re: A WAY AHEAD?

We'll just have wait and see how things pan out over the coming weeks. and exactly what are you/we waiting for until action? Irons hot strike A good idea in principle, but I can see a lot of hurdles to get over. Hurdles are there to be smashed through and destroyed - both them and those who create ...

Re: When You Left CH, Did You Cease to Have Access to the Musical Instrument You'd Learned How to Play?

Thank God they didn't offer me access to any musical instrument when I left. Prior to his death my son played in a group to help offset his uni expenses; I understand that they did record but I cannot find out any info. I do have one electric bass and one other guitar and his sax lying in a wardrode...

Re: A WAY AHEAD?

Foureyes' detailed suggestion (and subject to those elements yet to be satisfied) which seems to satisfy most if not all requirements. It gets my thumbs up. In the circumstances I would not like the school to be in a position to load its friends in any enquiry. The remaining questions are a) does th...

Re: Christ's Hospital / The Church of England / Child Abuse

Should we expect a statement from the CofE regarding Dobbie once he’s been sentenced? Does he have any entitlement to a church pension etc? Given the place of employment I have a vague suspicion that he may have been a prebendary canon in which case the C of E did not pay him nor be liable for a pe...

Re: A post on behalf of one of the Dobbie/Husband victims

Kerry's story is worrying. In my day the donation governors didn't pay anything like the full fees, so the CH Foundation was effectively leveraging this low life governor's "bargaining power" in his attempted seedy transaction. I and my co-foundation beneficiary went to CH in 1953 and probably 2 ye...

Re: James Andrew Husband, Pickering Town Council

This is from the minutes of a council meeting in January 2018. Note that the bank account signatories were 2 councillors and the assistant town clerk. The council decided that it would • close both its current and reserve accounts with NatWest Bank Plc; • open online banking accounts with Barclays ...

Re: Husband & Dobbie - VERDICTS

. The answer I got was that it was not my responsibility and it was a problem for my boss’ conscience not mine, I was not at fault morally if I was just doing what I was told. This was thoroughly debunked at the War Trials in 1946-7 where defendants claimed that they were only obeying orders. With ...

Re: The Sentencing hearings

I beleive that there is a clause in the EU treaties (etc) whereby a country can stop or limit the entry of a national of another EU country where they consider that that person could be a serious danger. In any event he wil be in prison long after we leave the EU and would need a visa (whether a sta...
