Re: All this is incredibly sad

Note to self : never send emails late at night. Graham, I think you know me well enough to know that I tell it as I see it. I guess it is difficult to convince folk that terrible mistakes made in the past will not be repeated, but I do know the rigour and integrity that is now present at the school...

Re: All this is incredibly sad

And I'm fairly sure none of them lay in bed at night, scared to fall asleep in case they got roughed up by some more senior kid who took a disliking to them. That was genuinely terrifying and happened in both my junior and senior houses. I remember one occasion when for no apparent reason the whole...

Re: All this is incredibly sad

I understand what you mean about the memories but for me the happy memories I have are still there, although the bad memories definitely have a darker subtext to them now. There is definitely a part of me that feels slightly uneasy about having some fond recollections of my time given what I know n...

Re: staff accommodation

Think it was CHK and was still going 92-95. Certainly inspired me around the course a few times. Still a keen runner today so it obviously worked!

Re: Over on Facebook

I see a conversation that was discussing a former member of staff as recently as yesterday on this forum has since been removed. Unless I missed a reply I think it was an innoculous thread. Are there guidelines about what’s ok and what’s not ok to discuss on here? Or criteria for post removal? (Hav...

Re: On a happier note: The Good Teachers!

Dr Ross was exceptional. Kind, committed and full of patience. He was an inspirational teacher at A level as Jim Endacott was at GCSE.

Re: CH videos

Watching the videos didn’t do anything much for me other than realising how damaging boarding was. That was only my personal experience. There will certainly be many more court cases to come and my feeling is that there needs to be accountability, especially when so much was swept under the carpet. ...

Re: Today's the day

I saw a tiny end of the school (Peele) yesterday from a passing train. I’ve not been back for about 20 years. Even that small glimpse was unnerving. I have thought about the school a lot in the past few months. For many years I believed I mostly enjoyed my brief time at the school but looking back ...

Re: Management knowledge of the Husband/Dobbie cases

Sniping at each other like this really serves little purpose. We all have our own feelings about what happened; some based on fact others based on conjecture or our own experience of the culture at that time. I must admit I wish that the case had been more widely reported as there feel like there ar...

Re: Today's the day

Great post Kerry and I absolutely agree. This will have changed many OB’s relationship with the school, it certainly has mine. I have no concerns over Simon Reid or the current safeguarding at the school. What I do have are so many unanswered questions and the feeling that my happy memories of scho...
