Re: All this is incredibly sad
Personally I would ban these private schools altogether. That would force all the MPs who send curently send their kids to private school to fund state schools properly. Imagine if these parents who spend 30K a year sending there kids to CH, sent their kids to a public school and donated that money...

Re: All this is incredibly sad
It seems to me that it is way more than just a small number of sexual predators at CH. It was an epidemic. During my time at CH (91 to 96), 3 (subsequently convicted) pedophiles were on the staff (Husband, Dobbie, Karim), another teacher (Jerry Martin) left for having an innappropriate relationship ...

Re: Freemasons and questions to answer
The freemasons got me a place at CH. I passed the entrance exam (scraped in maybe), but needed an Oliver Whitby foundation scholarship to help my parents pay the fees, as my results were not good enough for as full scholarship. The year I applied they had 2 kids from the Chichester region (catchment...

Re: Who Knew What?
I remember the bandmaster "elopement". It was referred to in a certain school satirical magazine of the time... Thinking back on it now, I bet there were also some issues of sexual abuse with older boys pupils as perpetrators. I was in lamb A and there was a real weird Grecian who had a s...

Re: Who Knew What?
I dont understand what you mean at all. I just stated that Gunning had no control over the house. I don't think anyone is going to want to take me to court over that? Whats more if they did, I would have no problem justifying my statement in court. For example, smoking and drinking occurred openly w...

Re: Who Knew What?
I have somewhat hazy memories of the Husband incident. I recall that I was chatting to a few folks whilst running/walking school drills one weekend morning down by the old gym near the train station. The story was that he had "eloped" with Grecian or deputy Grecian. I remember that here wa...

Re: Roger Martin
Hey Thanks Graham, Yes, I understand Mr Holdsworths' reluctance to go into any detail over this. Fair enough. I now trust that he has done the decent thing and given the police all and every details he remembers about the incident with Mr McCall , and I will do likewise. I am guessing that Harry's s...

Re: Roger Martin
The authorities are fully aware. I am not sure why you think they would not be aware. Harry you were my housemaster in Maine, B during the early 90s. I was a fairly troublesome kid I am sure, but I thought you were generally a pretty fair guy, and a good housemaster. Just to be clear I dont blame y...

Re: Allegations of abuse in today's news
I think the moderators of this forum have a duty to hand over everything that has been written on the CH forum to the Sussex police. Yes quite a bit of the stuff on this site is freely available, however there are quite a few "scandal" threads that have been deleted and plenty of thread mo...

Re: Allegations of abuse in today's news
To be honest I have zero faith that they will be found guilty. In sexual assault cases it usually come down to word against word. Rape conviction is about 5% of rapes reported. Only about 15% of violent sexual assaults are even reported to the police. In most case not guilty means they probably did ...

Re: Allegations of abuse in today's news
uh oh the Oprichnik have moderated my posts again. Why cant I name the headmaster/deputy head and people in charge of CH during the 90s? I don't see why it is controversial to name the headmaster. I didn't accuse them of abuse, I just said that they failed in their duty to protect children during th...

Re: Allegations of abuse in today's news
A certain four letter word public school somewhere arount 1900; petrol was poured over a pupil's back and then lit. Great thanks for the historical perspective. Nonetheless, I consider that your attempt to trivialize the current allegations by comparison between events that occurred fairly recently...

Re: Allegations of abuse in today's news
Plus ca change... CH has been publicly involved in sexual scandals before (in 1815 in fact). Look up the curious case of General Sir Eyre Coote. And how the establishment (or many of them) came rushing to defend him, although he'd been caught in flagrante by a matron. (No staff involved, he paid bo...

Re: Allegations of abuse in today's news
Cheers. I don't think the link in question actually provided any names though nor any direct links? Certainly I though the ch connections were subtler than the other link to be honest.....
