You are correct Michael, Carey was senior housemaster, until he left in 1953 to become headmaster of Bromsgrove. I also left in 1953 and, as far as I know, Peto took over at that time so it may well be a first. I remember Peto arriving on the scene at Maine B shortly after I came up from Prep B and ...

The "X" in the back row next to Stewart is my brother Richard Wells (known as "Bodge" to the "Uncle" Kirby group). He left in 1952 to join the Merchant Navy (note the RMS plate on his left shoulder) after a course at the Outward Bound School so the photo is not 1953. The "X" next to him is "Bunny" B...
