Re: Flu in 1957

Yes I recall the stews and that flu epidemic. My guess is the powder was some form of aspirin which would have worked.

Re: Shrove Tuesday Plays

Richard of Bordeaux by was directed by Ruth Frankel (now Deech) in ?1961 and was the first play, in my time that was controlled from start to finish by pupils. I still have a copy somewhere, a little green book. I was Maudlyn the page. A vivid time. Anyone have any photos of it?

Hello Angela and Frances It is blatantly trying to get people to give my novel a go. We're all going to have to pay our care home fees somehow! I'm afraid it is only an ebook as I self published and it costs a lot more to set it up as a print book. I got my son to contact his generation of Old Blues...

Re: CH Ladies on Facebook

Can't quite fathom facebook yet but will now try.I still have a cap from Hertford.
I've published an enovel which inevitably includes my heroine's school experiences. It IS fiction and a fictional school, but bits will be familiar to some who've been on this thread. Details are on the business thread

My first enovel.I went to Hertford.

Not sure it is OK to give the name of the enovel here. But it is on the business site. Many will recognise places and happenings BUT it is fiction. It is trying to say something about growing up and that numb feeling. Only the first part is Harriet's school days.

My first enovel.I went to Hertford.

Many who went to Hertford in the 50s and 60s will recognise bits and pieces in the story, but it IS fiction! 'The Disappearing Snake by Avalon Weston.' Available (as they say) from most on line retailers that means it is on Amazon at £2.99
