Re: Freemasons and questions to answer

McClain I believe, and yes I recall he was a high up mason too, and must have been fairly open about it for us to know.

Re: CH videos

Hah... depends on how your memories of your time there were. The parts where Poulton appeared got me swearing at the screen. I mainly enjoyed seeing and hearing old school friends, who are prominent in the video. I was in LHA with Nick Atkinson and Steve Maddocks, and seeing Ed Blake, Bradley Quirk...

Re: CH videos

Wow - I’d never seen those videos, and lots of friends and memories on them, which is fantastic! And yes - I do believe that’s me in the cloisters - how you spotted that, I’ve no idea - nearly missed it myself, and don’t remember being filmed. A timely reminder of the genuinely great things the scho...

Re: A post on behalf of one of the Dobbie/Husband victims

David - re petition - what you’re doing is called “cross-posting” - posting effectively the same post on every available topic, and this leads to topics getting hijacked with a single message. This is regarded as showing poor etiquette in a forum - like passing the port to the right. You’ve created ...

Re: "Petition 2018" to Council for a "Truth & Reconciliation Inquiry"

I would suggest that, whilst there are still ongoing police investigations, a further recent charge, and the school/council I guess are already engaged with the police and the local authority, the last thing they need is another petition AT THIS POINT distracting them from dealing with the contact f...

Re: WHERE IS CHOBA?

David - you’re excellent at volunteering other people for things, but as I’ve made clear in other posts I’m more than absorbed, and not appropriate to lead this. No matter how many times you suggest I lead it, it won’t make that position change!

Re: Who Knew What?

Speaking for myself as founder and moderator, I can’t take this on - too much history with CH organisations already, and the running of the forum is taking up enough time as it is, particularly the (very) few wayward posters we get from time to time, who take up a disproportionate amount of our volu...

Re: What was the attraction?

A very interesting informed perspective David - thank you for adding to this - particularly, as you say, there’s a risk of viewing everything with 2018 attitudes, rather than understanding the cultural and accepted norms of the era.

Re: What was the attraction?

I’m guessing inertia was a big hold, and as most of found when leaving CH it was quite a tough transition from the closeted environment of CH - all the tears at the leaving service are testament to that each year. From a teaching perspective, the culture at CH was one of achievement, in whatever you...

Re: How far did the rot spread?

And yes, I would happily pay that tax if i felt it would be appropriately used, as the benefit of good education is way beyond almost any other expenditure, and returns ten-fold what you put into it in economic benefit and welfare long term. A fantastic virtuous circle.

Re: How far did the rot spread?

Ha Ha! Same old right-wing crap. Politics of envy! Are you prepared to pay the tax necessary Julian to give all the schools the facilities that the public schools have? Where do we start? What about the playing fields? The state schools might have decent playing fields but I have a feeling that som...

Re: How far did the rot spread?

Unfortunately the drive always seems to be to abolish the public schools, rather than bring all the other schools up to the same level, both academically and socially. Often driven by jealousy it seems. Interestingly, some comprehensive schools have adopted the “house” system, with internal pride an...

I can't recall if I saw an email for this - but it was published on the CHOBA website.
It may be, under GDPR regulations, that you've not agreed to receive emails from CH?!
