Music cell nicknames
I was telling one of my daughters about the practice cells in the music school which were named after composers and how we had nicknames for them all, like....and....my memory failed! Ah, I remember just one: Debussy was Dead Pussy. Can anyone remember any of the other nicknames?

That's the pavilion and the chapel in the background - opposite side of the field from the infirmary and swimming pool.Fjgrogan wrote:Looks to me like the side of the swimming pool building, with the pathway alongside it leading to the infirmary?

Re: Just stumbled upon this site.......sounds like fun...
Just read through this thread ( skimmed) and have a few corrections to add... Munch, the Sylvester and the Morgan Twins were not the only twins in your time, but the only identical twins. You can't possibly forget the Bonfanti twins who were both delightful but totally and utterly unalike. Susan ha...

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread
The photo I have in my head includes Anne Gillespie walking towards the town centre, away from the school entrance, with a few others, past a bus stop just beyond the school gates (and not wearing Chapel caps). Is the Rosemary Gilespie you mention related to Anne? I remember Anne Gillespie - sort o...

Re: Bread and dripping
I remember always having a Sunday Roast (of sorts - meat unidentifiable, but that could be through childish ignorance as much as culinary questionability) with dripping served up at break on the Monday. After that it was bread and jam or "lipstick" as we called it. And what about malt? Do ...

I'd love just to say hello again to Janet Sussex - she was my crack! Somewhere amongst my treasures (probably in the loft) I still have a memento of Janet; she gave me a bright, shiny, new penny a proper old penny, not one of the new, midget variety) as an end of term present, which I immediately tr...

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread
Does anyone remember Janet Sussex and Helen Winter from Eights? I have fond memories of being selected by them to help do team teas. Do you remember the privilege of being asked, as a 2nd or third former to accompany a sixth former to make team teas for visiting cricket, or netball etc teams?

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread
There was a VI form review that I vaguely remember and they sang a song along the lines of: We would walk up to Ashbourne but there isn't any bus we would go up the other way but there ain't any room for us We would ????? up to Ashbourne but there isn't enough air so we'll trudge up to Ashbourne, ye...

Re: Chemi - T and Miss Mercer
Did that and got referred back to these two posts. Either I'm a useless searcher or your search function is useless - I tend towards the former! I stil have to ask my kids to operate the tv and dvd and that kind of stuff! And as for the computer - I have a 30 yr old son who fortunately is well able ...

Chemi - T and Miss Mercer
Does any one remember Miss Thompson - chemistry teacher, Irish - and fondly known as Chemi-T? And Miss Mercer - history teacher - we were convinced that they had some kind of "liaison"!!! Especially when we looked acorss the field on a frosty night and swore we saw two sets of staggering f...

No, I started and ended in eights. Now I rmember Helen and Imogen - but they were always in sevens as far as I remember. There was a time I could have recited every house member of eights from 1 - 36 but I am an old git now and such things elude me. Howvere, it's fun to remember - I'm sure it helps ...

Re: Tea Bowls
You are going tio have to trawl through a lot of posts as there are discussions, pictures and all sorts on here. The tea bowls lasted until the girls moved to Horsham I've just remembered that somewhere (probably up in the loft) I have a cutting from the local Hertford newspaper that made a big thi...
