Re: End of term report

When the report arrives you get a letter explaining that the reports will only be available via the portal in future. You also get the access arrangements.

Gemma is at the same college as my daughter and doing extremely well! I think she gained an Exhibition for her Mods last year.

Favourite song

What is your favourite song? I now this isn't what you might call a 'song' but she is singing! I love it because she is so majestic and the words are so simple and so moving. It isn't my absolute favourite song.Once you start thinking about it ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOIAi2XwuWo&fea...

Re: CHTV

I can see cautious comments are in order . Is this something that is endorsed by the school? I suppose it is- with the usual caveats of 'don't bring the school in to disrepute' and I imagine the school monitors it. I believe the presenter has political aspirations so I guess ' you saw it here first ...

Re: The Blue

It is nice when your child has a photo or a mention but as a product The Blue is exceptional;I think it has improved since the first one I received six years ago. I particularly like the emphasis on community action near and far and the space given to the children's writing .My eldest had several me...

Re: Initial Assessment

Apart from what Mrs C has recently posted I am fairly convinced that the initial assessment(November) is just based on the test results. The family circumstances aren't relevant at this stage. I am also sure that this applies to the Presentations. It would just be a rank order so that part of it is ...

And who could forget the Hertford Tableau Competition. Oh my word...if Angela was there when it was a feature I would give a lot to read her description but I think it was a happily short lived later experiment. I feel faint...

Re: New Bursaries policy

Is there a new system of presentations? It is a bit of a closed book but it seems to operate that the presentations are allocated where they can be. There are a variety of these such as RAF, Church, OB , Guilds , West Gift and many others. They are allocated if there is a 'fit' with the child and th...

Re: Tax Credits claimed for childcare at CH?

I see what you mean and was having a bit of a rant. Mrs C is right that the EMA was being spent on cigarettes and alcohol in many cases which I found annoying but I accept this is a personal view. It annoyed me a bit that the school takes such a liberal view of these things on site but again perhaps...

Re: Tax Credits claimed for childcare at CH?

That's true for sure Mrs C but I can't help thinking that an 'Only Way Is Essex' theme night organised by the Grecians and a Pyjama party for 13 and 14 year olds held in the Grecians Club is just reinforcing the idea that that EMA is money for nothing and having a 'good time' in the worst possible t...

Re: New Bursaries policy

It doesn't appear to if you can understand it all but according to a member of staff on Open Day last Saturday it is easier to 'pass ' the entrance exams if you are wealthy; there is a higher pass mark if you are poor which would seem to bear out what kingedwardrd says "As a result there will b...

I get the economics of the school but it was not founded for middle income parents what ever way you spin it.
